I somehow missed that this was a Disney movie. Thought I clicked the wrong link!

Yes! It’s an official remake of The Princess Diaries, but actually has almost nothing in common.

He’s very metro. Am I aging myself by continuing to use that term?
LikeLike
I have to be honest, I have no idea what you mean by using that term or how it would be ageing you at all
LikeLike
Maybe it’s an American thing? “Metrosexual” meaning super groomed man.
LikeLike
Might be? Or just not used so much anymore. Maybe in academic terms (which to be honest who wouldn’t want to research Fawad), but nowadays (speaking as a woman in her 20s) it is not used at all
LikeLike
I think the metrosexuals won – the hipsters basically took the look and added to it. Is there another word now for a well groomed stylish man who is NOT a hipster? Well, groomed, fashionable, but not ironic?

So dad gets to be a slob at the table but girls must be proper – it’s good to be king.

YES! Or, alternatively, Farookh Sheikh is so beloved and respected that no one dares ask him to change his look for a role, while Ratna Pathak has to do a total make over.

Somehow I find Fawad’s velvet and satin jacket more strange looking than the Raja’s turban and silk shirt look. It’s just not right!
LikeLike
In case you missed it, Ratna said “Sonam is from Delhi, I hope South Delhi”. South Delhi being the classy old money area. And now we see this scene, where they are totally definitely NOT south delhi. Although I love the spinny thing in the middle of the table.

My feeling: this friend dude has a crush on the fiancee lowkey and when the hero inevitably dumps her, Friend will be there to save her.
Not to spoil anything, but yes, the rom-com hero does NOT marry his perfect fiancee.

I feel like for this family a live-in physiotherapist would be considered like an au paire or something.

Maybe that’s why there was the IPL opening? to establish her credentials as a super super consultant, not just a regular therapist?

She really makes use of her physicality, flopping her long limbs around and such. This film is perfect for her.

And is so freaking relatable in this movie too, taking selfies just because she likes it, not narcissistic reasons and just trying everything when she’s bored to pass the time

I think I feel worst for Ramsevak out of all the people in this household. Stop making him do everything! And never saying “thank you”!

It’s like the opposite of British servant households, which is the only other servant culture I know of. Not a lot of U.S. servants.
