Putting this post up so you have time to find it and prepare yourself, but the actual start time is at 2pm Chicago time, half an hour from when this post publishes.
When I start watching the movie, I will put a comment below saying “I’ve started watching the movie” or something.
As you watch along with me, just put in new comments down below, and refresh the page regularly to make sure you see all the comments other people are posting. It worked great last week, let’s see how we do this week!
Enjoying Fawad’s awkwardness.

Man Pain! But, okay, I can actually sympathize with all this. Also explains Fawad’s Fawadiness.

I think this family might need a therapist-therapist more than a physical therapist. Where’s DZ Shahrukh?

Umm, I think Shah Rukh and Fawad having therapeutic scenes together might actually make me explode.

Amen to that. I don’t think I could take it. Hooooooooooooooooot.

Look at those red pants – he needs to go to Nantucket!

Red pants! Subtle indication that he isn’t as buttoned up as he seems and might be a perfect match to Pink Pants Sonam!

I think he actually cared about whether or not she had a boyfriend! I think he might be getting a thing for this unacceptable young woman!

Alternative version of the movie: Sonam and Divya fall in love.

I’d watch that

I love how she first started to, almost on instinct, to sit properly and then gave up and just went to being herself again. Such good subtle moment!

Ok, a relatable moment not shown often enough in movies alert! A woman pulling her pants up after she has been sitting for a while! Never thought I’d see it in this movie

So, your son/brother dies and your husband/father is killed and your healthy reaction is “we never talk about it”?
Is it possible this family is secretly WASP?

They are royals, it is practically the same thing

Indians (my fam included) do the same all the time…

My best friend didn’t know she had an uncle who drowned when she was 2. The family never spoke of him again for 20 years. Her mom watched her own brother drowning.

How terrible. I’m so sorry your friend’s mom went through that. Tough for your friend too.

What do we think, did Farookh just want to get rid of Sonam, or is it a set-up?

Hmmm, I had always thought he just wanted to get rid of her, but perhaps I was wrong.

Okay now Sonam is just wearing a pastel purple and blue version of my jogging pants…this is bizarre.

Side note: this whole thing is what happened in Saif’s family. They couldn’t afford the house, made a deal with a luxury heritage hotel group, and Saif just recently gathered together enough money to buy it back.

For those who haven’t seen Sholay, there’s a cute scene where the character Veeru “teaches” his girlfriend how to shoot, mostly as an excuse to get handsy.

I love how even a guy they met for the first time can see how much they are into each other! XD

I’m torn between wanting Sonam’s jacket, scarf, or purse more.

Does anyone else think fawad’s facial hair is a little too precise?
LikeLike
Not too precise to look good, but too precise for his character maybe? Like, he would always have perfect hair and beard, but maybe wouldn’t want such a high maintenance look.

He is a “snob” prince, of course he has it trimmed to the centimetre by some barber from France. Nothing less than perfect in that household after all.

Is that Julia Roberts on the poster?
Which lets me add more trivia! While filming Eat Pray Love, she stayed at Saif’s family house/palace/hotel.

It is disturbing how cute the kidnappers are.
LikeLike
I kind of like it! They are just local dudes in a dying economic area trying to make some money from folks who have way too much of it, not faceless villains.
LikeLike
I imagine they rehearsed this a lot before actually going through it, they are just that naive looking…also useless kidnappers in keeping her in the same place they have on the poster
LikeLike
Indeed. But fits the Disney-esque film

wow, kidnapping to make him realize how much he cares and drugging to get rid of her inhibitions. What will happen?!?!!?!?

I don’t know what you are talking about, this movie is completely unpredictable and original.

Haha, I have no problems with predictable. That was a pretty good movie kiss. Better than most I’ve seen in Indian movies. (Not counting streaming platform shows.)

Love it! The engagement is the important part! I’ve gotten used to rom-coms where the fiancee is just written off and never thought about by the heroine. Yes! She did a wrong thing kissing a guy who is engaged!

I have seen this guy be the supportive friend guy in like a dozen movies, but his “creepy predator photographer” in Delhi-6 somehow is what sticks in my mind.

Also, sticking with my theory, friend guy is a little in love with the fiancee and has been all along, which is why he is taking her side in his conversation with Fawad. Maybe he’s always been the less rich/less handsome friend and wasn’t brave enough to go after the fiancee himself?

Truth is I like her character so much more than I like his. I don’t feel like we know anything about him other than he is buttoned up, but attracted to her.

I was thinking about it when I recommended this movie for kids but not boys, her character is this fabulous person for little girls to identify with, but his is just empty for little boys.
