That was a long time to hold the kissing pose, though it was a good pose.

The symbols of rings and marriage is interesting. Neither I nor my husband wear ours.

Yeah, and engagement rings aren’t necessarily an everyday thing in Indian culture. I guess they just needed something to signify engagement (but not marriage)

On the DVD I think, Vaibhavi Merchant talks about how irritated she was with ABhi because he didn’t do the moves the way she showed him.
But then she watched the playback and saw that his way was just SO much more amusing, who cares abotu dancing precision.

I didnโt watch at the same time but I tried watching the movie last night and didnโt like it at all. I lasted for about 45 mins. Why was Amitabh showing up every 15 minutes to dance to that song dressed like a flamboyant pirate? Does that amount to something by the end of the movie? I didnโt make it to see most of Bobby Deols speaking parts but his little orphan Annie red wig was too much for me!

There is never an explanation for Amitabh, he is like the spirit of the film or something.
But the Bobby Deol wig does have an explanation!

We did! And these posts always get a ton of comments, so much to say about hair and costumes and sets, even if folks don’t like the movie.
You should join us this week!

My wife and I finally finished watching JBJ last night. We can only do it in bits and pieces once our toddler is finally asleep. But I think she kind of enjoyed it.
And by now I seem to have trained her pretty well in some Bollywood tropes: When shop-boy Bobby was introduced in the second half, she asked, โIs the actor someone famous?โ, because she recognized how long they took to show his face.
On the other hand, she didnโt recognize the sidecar scene. Apparently, Sholay is โthe depressing western, where someone loses their handsโ.

Yaaaaaay! Glad you finished it, and glad your wife is starting to recognize stuff.
More importantly, you have a toddler? Are you doing screen free, or can I start suggesting stuff? There are so many songs that are good for toddlers!

He only turns two in May. So far, we use the iPad to entice him into brushing his teeth. Plus, nowadays he gets to see his cousins on our phones. But whenever I’m ready to show him his first videos, I’d be happy to fall back on a Margaret-approved selection. Thank you so much.
