Woo-hoo! I’ve been wanting to watch this movie with y’all for WEEKS. And Madhuri looks gorgeous, and Kunal Kapoor looks gorgeous, and all of life is happiness.
Aaja Nachle! We get to snark on Madhuri’s “western” look, debate who is swoonier Kunal, Akshaye, or Irrfan, and generally have Happiness.
I’ll start the comments at 3pm, just comment along with me.
YES! MYSTERY SOLVED! It’s the back-up dancers!!!! They rehearse at night like vampires, that’s why we never see them.

Hating Irrfan! Is this his most negative role?
LikeLike
Well, in Dhund: The Fog he played a serial killer. I think he had a whole string of creepy villain roles when his career was getting going.

Have to say, Nawazuddin is not blowing me away, I can see why this role wasn’t his big break.

See, Irrfan’s a good husband. He makes his wife betray her best friend, but then he gives her an expensive necklace, so everything is fine.

My theater friends get totally distracted at this point by figuring out how they built such amazing sets in a month.

They bought them at the same store she found her original backup dancers.

Or used the backup dancers as slave labor to build them.

Every costume I think “okay, now THIS is Kunal’s best look”. But really, I think this is the best one. Blue brings out his cheekbones.

You missed almost all the flirty flirty akshaye scenes, but I will still let you vote in the Kunal versus Akshaye versus Irrfan pole. Surprisingly hard in this movie!

Yeah, I love the flirting but Madhuri doesn’t end up with Akshaye, right?! So boo!! Come on, Akshaye, go follow Madhuri and her daughter.

Kunal and Konkona are legitimately good here! In a “their characters are doing a really good job” kind of way. Like, I don’t feel like I am watching Kunal Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma act, but their two characters act.

I was explaining to the boys that Madhuri is like the best female dancer in Indian movies, same as Allu Arjun is the best male dancer (sorry Hrithik fans), but that Madhuri is a lot older than Allu Arjun. And 8-year-old asked hold old they are – is Madhuri like 30 and Allu Arjun 20?
