I really like the decision to make Amitabh gently amused and confused and nice here. He’s not a dictator who hates poor people or anything like that. Just Kajol puzzles him. But he’s super nice about it!

I’m just such a sucker for childhood friends to lovers, that’s probably why I rooted for Rohan and Pooja so hard when they got older.

Look at Shahrukh being a good older brother! See, he teases him and stuff, but down deep he cares about him and is teaching him how to be a good man. Amitabh focuses on Shahrukh, Shahrukh fills in the gap of male role model for poor forgotten lil Hrithik

Shahrukh is so smooth with these cute moments

We all know that Kajol is doing a really think Delhi accent, right? And the story that in real life Shahrukh teased her like crazy because this was his natural accent and easy for him and she was struggling hard?

I remember both Kajol here and Juhi in 12K4 said SRK helped them with Punjabi

Kajol has deep deep denial strength if she is not picking up Shahrukh’s signals even now. That was some hardcore flirting.

He is SOOO rich. What poor girl would believe it?

But also being very aware of the differences between their families, maybe it’s easier to be in denial instead

I do find it cute how Kajol resists the idea of him being interested in her…

That just feels so WRONG! Although none of the words by themselves were bad.

No, actually they don’t make any sense outside of a sexual context.

See, it’s the fact that he says “shut up!” I can get behind their romance, but not this scene.

To be fair, it translates more to “Shh. Quiet” not so much shut up. Subtitles suck!

Unpopular opinion: I don’t like Suraj Hua Maddam that much.
I was also talking to the students over Zoom today, and one was ranting about a classmate named Suraj, so that’s all I’m thinking about right now.

Hate Shahrukh’s clothes, don’t even super love the sound of the song, but their interactions are maybe best ever. Love the little teasing each other and then embracing and dancing around and all that.

I should look at that more, I always felt Kajol seemed kinda stilted in the Egypt dance scenes.

My theory of that little fantasy-in-a-fantasy moment, notice that Kajol dreams of Shahrukh in her Chandni Chowk world? And Shahrukh dreams of her in his no colors rich people world? See, on some level they already know that this can’t work, there is no in between, they will have to walk away from their world entirely to be together. Which is what happens, they start something totally fresh in London.
