NOTE THE TIME!!!! I’ve got a tight schedule tomorrow, so I have to bump from our usual 3pm to 4PM CHICAGO TIME TOMORROW instead. With that in mind, I am also leaning slightly shorter on our movies. It’s quite the mix here, all they have in common is that they are available streaming, and they make Margaret smile. Some of them also are Pride themed, but not all of them.
Loins of Punjab Presents
This is kind of old now, it’s part of that subcategory of films set in and made for the diaspora. So not an Indian movie, but also not a movie-made-for-white-people. Anyway, I love it, it is super funny and happy and also has a Queer couple that is such a non-issue that I honestly forgot they were queer. Oh, and one of the BEST “Shabana Azmi as powerful evil older woman” performances. I love those. It’s on youtube and googleplay for a small fee, but you won’t regret renting it.
Ohm Shaanti Oshaana
Also only available for rent, also totally worth renting. Very happy village romance, very pretty villages, delightful heroine, hunky hero. Everything golden and good. Oh, and Malayalam, in case language matters to you.
Pride Themed! Light dumb farce comedy, sunny Miami scenario, ridiculous Dharma costumes and plot, great songs, and so on. Oh, and great comedy too! And it’s on Netflix.
Nina’s Heavenly Delights
I haven’t seen this, but Eva suggested it and it does sound nice. Scottish movie about a desi woman taking over her family’s Indian restaurant, and falling in love with the girl next door. On Prime too, no extra charge!
