Yes! I am going to go to a grocery store for the first time in 3 months! I am so excited! I’m gonna get fruit and milk and fun stuff and it will be awesome.
Things to talk about!
It’s Pride weekend! What is your preferred Pride celebration song/movie/whatever from Indian film?
I’m gonna go with “Jai Jai Shiv Shankar”, the “let your colors fly” is just so on the nose and happy.
It’s also Rahul Khanna’s birthday! Time to Rank Our Khannas, Vinod and Akshaye and Rahul, what is your order?
I’m Akshaye-Rahul-Vinod, FOR SURE!
It’s summer solstice! How do you celebrate? If you celebrate?
I don’t celebrate at all, personally. Pride kind of overshadows it. My church usually does something for solstices and equinoxes, but we are all about Pride instead this weekend.
Report back on your shopping trip. I went to the grocery store for the first time in 3 -4 months about ten days ago, and it was … totally weird. Actually eerie. I just had to grab some milk so I went to the 7 -11 near the house first, only to find them closed, which I didn’t expect. So on to the supermarket — where I wasn’t sure if THEY were open. There were like six cars in the parking lot. Then I saw some people come out with groceries so figured they were open. They were. But there were only two other customers besides me, parts of the store had been barricaded closed, and it all felt completely unreal. And spooky.
You have been warned.

I’m back! It was so fast! I guess they are limiting customers, so no lines and no crowds in the aisles, and a two hour shopping trip took me 20 minutes.

Mine is so boring because it’s just Yeh Dosti, but it’s so great.
Vinod is my man, after that Akshaye and Rahul. It’s weird how completely different Akshaye is from his father as an actor.

Really? I was sure no one would pick Vinod!!!
And you have to go to yesterday’s post and describe your imaginary Yeh Dosti float.

I know the no-politics on this site rule but just found this out and had to share. Mira Nair’s son Zohran Mamdani is challenging the incumbent NY 36th Assembly District representative in the Democratic primary. He did couple of rap vidoes including this one with Madhur Jaffery called Nani – https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iQVsVNPkPmE

Huh, I thought Mira Nair was Canadian. I guess she still can be and her son is in New York.

Mira Nair used to live (and possibly still does live) in Uganda or Kenya or some country near there in Africa, as her husband is from that country. She may also have some sort of immigration status in the U.S., as she does spend quite a bit of time in New York, too. Whether the son was born in the U.S., Africa, or India, is anybody’s guess. (He doesn’t need to be a “natural born” U.S. citizen to run for state office.)

I love summer solstice. It’s one of the best days of the year. I don’t know why I’m always so excited that day and why I love it so much.
