Either way, this is going to be a good good week! Two great movies to pick from, and then we can all turn them off and focus on comforting our doggies. 4th of July, terrible weekend for dog owners.
Kal Ho Na Ho
A great Shahrukh performance, an equally good Saif performance, a really solid script, and one of the few mainstream hit movies that never leaves America, not even for a second. And it’s on Netflix, googleplay, and youtube.
A Gentleman
Truly captures America! The little squad of three desis in the office, one buying into the American dream of home ownership and perfect life, one enjoying the freedom she could never have in India, and one American born and raised and always feeling slightly outside. And of course the golden boy suck up desi they all hate. There’s awkward office karaoke nights, a new house furnished completely from Crate and Barrel, and the fancy new minivan. Not on Netflix or Prime, you have to pay for rentals on youtube or googleplay.
Okay, which do you pick?????
I’m pretty sure you know my choice but I’ll say it anyway: A Gentleman!! However, I have Friday off so I’ll watch any movie you pick.

I have Friday off too! I’m so excited to sleep in, and then cuddle my shaking doggy all morning.

Aw! Poor Albie! I am wondering how my puppy is going to react to it.Thankfully, even though we live just a couple miles from DC, our neighborhood itself is secluded, so hopefully it the noise won’t be too bad.
Do you know, by chance, what time you will host the watchalong on Friday? My family is starting to make plans. I am not sure why they are so against just sleeping and being lazy. Silly overachievers!

I was planning to do 3pm Chicago time like usual. I can’t do later, but I could do earlier if other people are free for that.

Once again I won’t be able to participate, but for happy reasons. My sister’s family is coming to visit – probably the only time we will see them for the year.

I have off on Friday so I should be able to participate this time and I vote for A Gentleman! The only performance by Sid that I’ve ever enjoyed. Also, while I’m thinking about it, why does Jacqui speak English with an American accent IRL? I’ve tried googling her education but there’s nothing I can see that explains it.

Maybe she just had an American English teacher?

Many women who participate in international pageants are trained to speak in an American accent (and a British accent). When Aishwarya Rai won Miss World for example, she spoke in an American accent, and then she did a bunch of interviews in England and spoke with a British accent.
