Another easy “no wrong answer” post! Who is your favorite Shahrukh character, out of all the characters he has played in movies? And who is your least favorite?
My most favorite character:
Jug! It’s not necessarily the most complicated or anything, but it is the person who I just like the most. I want to spend time with him and get his take on the world and just generally feel happier and calmer.
My least favorite character:
Devdas. Booo! I want to spend no time with him.
Favourite:Kabir Khan(Chak De India). There is a certain frankness about the character that is so charming, like an inexplicable charisma.
Least favourite.Eh,Devdas.I would add begrudgingly, SRK didn’t capture the character well,it didn’t have the shades of a privileged Calcutta aristocrat raised abroad. Not only was he an inglorious crybaby(the character, not SRK),he didn’t look Bengali in the least bit despite an obnoxiously caricaturish accent. He was so atrocious,I would have cheered for Chandramukhi to run away with Paro(another insufferable wench, still better than Dev.She had a SIZZLING chemistry with Chandramukhi in Dola re).Same sex relationships weren’t unheard of among tawaifs(which Chand is),there are colonial era novels about them(obviously not very mainstream, but they exist, especially from Awadh and Bengal). Most foreigners who don’t get the deal about SRK happen to have been introduced to him through this movie unfortunately. It was advertised in India as a commercial venture, but the West for some reason advertised it as an ‘artistic’ watch-this-to-know-Bollywood masterpiece.

Ugh, Devdas! Does anyone like him?

Favorite: Don, Harry, Ajay, Ashoka, Om (more Prakash than Kapoor), Lalit (yes), Rahul (Chennai Express), Samar, Raj “Kaali” and Jug.
Least favorite: Vijay (Aanjam), Vikram Mayur, Amarkhant (but I really like Dil Se), Arun Verma, Gopal, Raj Mathur, Kabir Khan (yes), Raj Kapoor (not Surinder), Gaurav, Devdas (I finally read the book. He’s the worst since childhood). Anyway, the most a**h*les/annoying characters he’s ever done (in my opinion).

He’s like J.K Simmons in Whiplash. Abusive coaching.

Raees, Raj, Zero (I liked that portrayal) Fan when he is the actor…hard to be a character who is you and play him as not you….Chalte Chalte…I loved that character.

Zero just got bashed up on the “least favorite movie” post. Nice to know that someone likes it enough to make up.

The worst: Anjaam SRK. Devdas is terrible but at least he wasn’t a killer.
The best: No surprise: Suri

Well, if we are hating SRK’s for being killers, surely Baazigar SRK and Darr SRK should go on the list too?

Yes, but Baazigar SRK was avenging his father’s death, and Darr SRK had some issues from childhood. They are still killers and I would not like to spend my time with them but they are better than Anjaam SRK who was just a spoiled, obnoxious, cruel without reason guy.

Really, forget the killing, I think I wouldn’t want to spend time with Anjaam SRK even before he killed people.

Least favorite: Manu/Bablu. Both of them, one cartoonishly evil, the other cartoonishly dopey.
Favorite: this is a hard one. In terms of creating a character, Suri and Don would both be high up, points for complex, original, fully inhabited personas. But the ones I tend to want to spend time with are Harry and Raees.

I don’t know if I’d want to spend time with Raees. He was smart, but I’m not sure if he could communicate and understand someone outside of his little circle. Yeah, sticking with Jug for my choice.

Oh, and I can’t believe I forgot about Rizwan. In terms of creating a whole character who you could imagine existing outside of the bounds of the film, Suri, Don, and Rizwan are my tops for his work as an actor.
Raees in real life I wouldn’t hang out with, but Raees as a character in a movie is one I’ve spent more time with than a lot of the others, including Jug.
Oh, and I think there should be a category for films where he essentially plays himself. For me, Sahir Khan edges out Aryan Khanna here.

Yes Rizwan! And I think I would also enjoy spending time with Rizwan. In a carefully structured way for his comfort of course. But he is a kind caring person who wants to help people, that is someone that I would always like to be around.
Agree. Aryan Khanna has a lot more screentime and layers, but Sahir has a kind of wistful sadness that is intriguing.
