More prep work for New Years! We’ve got our wishes more or less worked out, but what will be our resolutions?
I don’t really “do” New Years Resolutions. Not because I don’t believe in resolutions, but because I don’t believe in waiting for New Years. I decide to do something, and I do it, and I don’t need a special date. But this year I think I am going to try to come up with a list of manageable things that I currently do almost every day and which I will continue to do. Feel free to select from the following for yourself, or suggest other additions:
- Get dressed in clean clothes before 10am every day
It is just amazing how much better and brighter and happier I feel every day just by putting on nice real clean clothes!!!
2. Walk the dog three times a day at least
I think “have I gone outside today and moved about?” and then I think “oh yes I have! I walked the dog three times at least without even thinking about it!”
3. Keep up with my DCIB community peeps
Did I read and respond to at least one, if not all, comments on the blog today? Why yes I did! I made a human connection and reached out to another person!
4. Text/chat something small and amusing to at least one friend a day
It is so enjoyable sending a funny picture of Albie Dog, or a link to a weird local news story, or a link to my own blog post, off to one of my friends. And then they send me a baby video or their own news story or just an “lol” in response. Lovely!

5. Continue to take my anxiety pills
Did I take my daily pill when my 9pm alarm went off? Why yes I did! Did I remember to refill my prescription over a week in advance? Why yes I did! I am doing GREAT!!!!
6. Sit all smooshed up on the couch with my Mom and Dad and Dog and watch something funny at least twice a week
Sitting on the couch leaning my head on my Mom’s shoulder and holding my dog in my lap and putting my feet on my Dad’s legs while laughing at a comedy show together? Done!
7. Look out my bedroom window and think how pretty the world is
Look! There’s lighted windows, and the broken car graveyard across the alley, and the greyed out light pollution city sky, and my finger painted tree, and it’s just LOVELY.

8. Wear thick socks
I have a big blister on both heels right now because of not following this rule. Socks! They’re important!

`
If you want to avoid heel blisters, you have to wear TWO pairs of thin socks or put a prophylactic bandage on the suspect spot. That’s the rule.

I also don’t resolve what I’ll probably forget since I’m not a list maker either. But I did promise myself to give proper credit to Indian films by viewing them in a more analytical mode.
I started two days ago with AK vs AK, but between the subs and pausing every 30 seconds to check your DCIB notes, I didn’t make it to the end. Got as far as Harsh’s over-the-top performance in the Kapoor living room, stopped thinking and started enjoying. What a unique film!
From now on, I’ll leave the in-depth stuff to you. Your revues are enlightening, teach me something, and don’t get in the way of my fun.

Yes! Have fun! A really good movie should work on the “fun” level and the “thinky” level. I have a really hard time now turning off my “thinky” and turning on my “fun”, so you should enjoy that wonderful gift while you can.
