Happy Saturday!!! My biggest project for the day: finding a staging area for my new puzzle. Not even finishing it, just finding a staging area. I dream small.
Things to talk about!!!!
It’s Farah and Farhan’s shared birthday! Quick, without thinking about it, which director do you like better?

Yesterday was Elvis’ birthday! Quick, without thinking about it, Elvis or The Beatles?
I think I’m gonna go Elvis! Partly as a gesture of rebellion against my parents/boomers, but also I think I just relate more to his sincerity than The Beatles intelligence.

Does this poster make anyone interested in seeing yet ANOTHER sports film?
And speaking of first looks, Haathi Mere Saathi, the remake no one wanted, just released a new poster.
Okay, you chat, while I think about how to carefully move a just started puzzle, or if it would be easier to just start fresh on a new surface that is big enough for the whole thing.
Nani’s upcoming movie also has a new poster:
Do they prepare him like a new bride? They have my attention.

Ooooo!!!! They have my attention too!!!! I love Nani’s rejection of machismo.

Don’t you believe it. Nani only APPEARS to reject masculanity. He swaggers, struts, wears ALL the jewlery he possibly can, opens his shirt to the belly, and accepts the fawning adoration of females as his due. Even in Nani’s Gang where he helped a group of women get revenge, he was the boss. In another film, can’t recall the name, he’s a posturing gigolo who learns a lesson. But even there, he’s got all the macho trappings and the gals who reject him in the beginning come off as snooty and snotty.

That gigolo movie sounds great.

Sir released on Netflix finally. Been waiting to watch it from a long time. Movie is really touching. If you liked Lunchbox there is a good chance you will like this too.

Farhan, the Beatles, and why is that gentleman playing hockey naked?
Random note but I had Chak De on without subtitles the other night as I was doomscrolling news on my phone, and it was nice. The camera work is really good, I’d never noticed that before.

This is cool, I just looked up the director of Chak De, and he did a lot of the A Suitable Boy episodes!!!! Might get me to actually watch it because he is very good at his craft.

Love Story teaser:
I’m worried Naga Chaitanya can ruin the movie but will try to be positive and open minded.

I’m not worried about Naga, but I’m worried it will have a sad ending.

Hey, are you planning on watching Maara? It’s so good it made my husband cry. Much better than the original Malayalam film with Dulquer. It’s better written and having Maddy play the lead really changes the story. He gives it an earthiness that grounds the fantastical elements.

Oooo! I’m planning to watch it at some point, hearing good things makes me more interested.

Anon mentioned that Sir was on Netflix. I love the crime and sci fi and romance films, even the horror sometimes. They’re all Indian and all have something. But the offbeat ones like Cargo and Lunchbox , so called “art” flicks without big production numbers are always a pleasant surprise. I loved Sir and hope her saying his name meant a happy ending. Thanks, anon.

Oh good! I really like Tilotama, she was the maid in Monsoon Wedding (which I forgot until recently), and then I saw her in a webseries recently and she was really really good. I hope Sir means she has more opportunities coming her way.

I have been waiting for sir for 1 year and half. It was in some italian cinemas in 2019, but not in Sicily. I was thinking: sooner or later it will be in Tv or on DVD, I’ll wait, but no, because it started being shown in Film Festivals around the world. I was happy it had a success, and was still waiting. Months passed and nothing. Now I saw it will be on Netflix, but guess what – no italian Netflix of course! Netflix Italia is the most useless platform ever and I’m so angry.
