I’m hormonal, my computer was buggy this morning, it’s overcast and snowing, I forgot my phone in the car and had to go all the way up and down three flights of stairs just for that, I think it is time for Arijit to make me feel better.
Arijit Singh! I do like him. I realized when I was putting together my “A Star is Born” post earlier today that he is similar to Judy Garland in that the flaw in his voice, a sort of hidden roughness, is what makes it so good.
Anyway, which song is your favorite?
“Tum Hi Ho”, his first big hit that rocketed him to the stratosphere?
“Guara”, his first Shahrukh hit?
“Zaalima”, his second Shahrukh hit?
“Hawayein”, his third Shahrukh hit?
“Mere Rang Sharbotan Ke”, his surprise cover hit?
“Channa Mereya”, his Ranbir hit?
“Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”, his other Ranbir hit?
“Shayad”, his acoustic lockdown version?
“Tere Yaar Hoon Main”, his Queer anthem?
For me, I think it is actually “Mere Rang Sharabaton”. It’s just so rolling and happy! And yet feels deep because of that voice delivering it.
Wait. Do we want to feel better? Then Hawayein to feel all googly. Or Tera Yaar Hoon Mein because it is so sweet and yes, I did enjoy the gayness of SKTKS last week! But if I wanna dig in and cry my guts out to work it through, it’s Channa Mereya 100 pct. Rips my heart out.

Oooo, this is excellent question and analysis!!! Right now I am feeling that nice hormonal mix of googly and crying, so it’s all good. Maybe a wild rollercoaster mix that pulls them all together? Like reading a YA novel?
Anyway, if I want to cry my eyes out, it’s all about Tum Hi Ho. Largely because someone on the blog at one point suggested “Channa Maraye” as a story of love between a man and chickpeas, and now I just think of that and giggle.

Oooo, Zaalima is a good “googly” one too! With a touch of crying because of the tragic ending to the love story.

I like that I have added googly to our DCIB lexicon.

Tum Hi Ho, and Channa Mereya (I hate the movie but this song is just too good).

Channa Mereya is so so good! Even if it is a love song about chickpeas.

Hawayein to daydream, and Channa Mereya to cry. I might watch Channa Mereya the most out of all the songs listed, Arjit is so good that he can drown Ranbir out by his voice alone, also it’s just so beautiful.

If I think of Channa Mareya as Arijit and Karan talking to each other through Ranbir, then I can enjoy it. Like, Ranbir is just a condiut for their shared vision, he doesn’t REALLy matter.

Yep, he is as thin as rice paper as far as I’m concerned with the songs that are good in the movies he is in.

I will agree that it is the best part of that movie, for sure.

Is it possible DCIB has virtually synced all of our cycles? Do I have That Power??? Am I the Alpha Female???

Mine is related to the amount of hormones I am on. It’s making me very cranky! But you can still be Alpha Female with the superpower to sync cycles virtually!

I want to be Alpha Female somewhere! when we still had an office, everyone synced to someone else, which felt unfair since I was technically their boss. But I was also (as they pointed out freely) clearly not the Alpha of the group. I suppose a sign of not being the Alpha is when everyone feels comfortable telling you that you aren’t the Alpha?

Ha! This cracked me up. That is very unfair and and yes, that is a very good sign of your Alphaness! But this is your blog so you can be the Alpha of whatever you would like.

I’ll go with Zaalima because the music is excellent, it has a good combination of male and female voices and also (and this is slightly awkward) SRK in eyeliner and a pathani. Even the actress (whose name I do not know) is interesting somehow. Not amazing, but she seems interesting.

Her name is Mahira Khan, and she is a famous actress from Pakistan 🙂

Absolutely SRK in eyeliner and a Pathani is an acceptable reason to like a song!!!
