  1. Here! Without coffee because the nine year old decided to turn the couch into his special bed last night and I don’t want to wake him up (kids are always doing wierd things like that).

    • I used to do that! Until two years ago when I got a new couch that was too small!!!! Sometimes it’s just too scary to sleep in your bedroom.

  2. I have a very bad feeling about this WatchAlong, by the way, because my morning has been fairly cursed so far. My favorite coffee mug is dirty, I had to walk the dog in the snow, and I may have lost a puzzle piece.

  3. dharma! And Kuch Kuch!!! This is a weird order of credits. Is everyone else getting this? Tinkle tinkle piano, then EROS, then Dharma, and now Excel?

    • Maybe it’s not that the childhood sweetheart thing is stupid, maybe it’s that alllllllllll the children you know, and allllllll of us as children, are outliers!

Also, this is TOTALLY my cousin’s love story. Except they were just friends until they were 25 because kids don’t do romance. So yeah, I guess I am agreeing with you after all.

  4. So, my sister is a math teacher, and actually teaches classes like this. And I can confirm that none of her co-teachers are this cute, nor do they dress this well. FALSE!!!!

  5. Kat does this scene SO WELL. And I am worried she is going to have to propose to someone in real life since no one seems to want to propose to her.

      • My Mom never got an engagement ring, because they used the money on matching wedding rings instead.

Meanwhile, family joke is that my grandfather was never brave enough to propose. He said “what would you say if I asked you to marry me?” Which is pretty good, right? So he has a “just curious” out if she says “no”!!!

  6. One of my theories about this movie, the issue is the “old married couple” thing here. He has lost the sense of appreciating her, the magic of being in love, a childhood sweetheart thing is BAD because it means you get too relaxed as adults.

    • Yep! He’s done a few art roles, and he was Varun’s Dad in SOTY, and some other mainstream stuff, but mostly he’s a very successful TV actor.

  7. One of my biggest regrets with this movie is that they don’t handle the brother relationship as well as they could. there were a lot of possibilities there that got lost.

  8. Ooo!!!! Kat’s Mom was on Coronation Street!!! What a fun job this must have been for her, a couple weeks in India doing a wedding sequence, and then back home to make a little extra money with a few scenes.

  9. I think Kat needs to stop fixing and cleaning up after Sid and let him suffer the consequences of his own rudeness and stuff like an ADULT.

  10. Does anyone else get distracted about the 7 lifetimes thing? Because if you did the same oath in your last lifetime, now you are committing for an additional 7, which means 13. So really 6 out of 7 lives, you don’t have to do the 7 lifetimes oath, you just have to figure out which is the end of the last cycle and refresh then. Or, alternatively, you assume at the Beginning of Time, you did the 7 oath, and now you just have to add on a new one in every life.

  11. this movie is one of those where there was a different composer for every song, so no consistancy in the soundtrack. But I think it is one of the few times it actually works!!!!! Each song feels like it is coming from a totally different character, in this case it’s all Kat’s joyfulness.

  12. thought experiment: What would this movie be like if Kat was the noticably less attractive, and also less rich than Sid? The point of the film is that she does way too much emotional labor and he doesn’t appreciate it. I like that with the way it is, she is so pretty and rich and stuff that it feels like she doesn’t need anything from him so he doesn’t do anything for her.

But a different way, it would have a message of him being the “prize” and her feeling like she has to earn him, and then eventually him realizing she is the real prize.

  13. How hard would it be for him to say “sweetheart, this is so beautiful, and so nice of you, thank you. But we have to talk about another option” Why attack her? Why not even acknowledge all her effort? UGH!!!
