Help Me Pick Albie’s Adopt-a-Versary Gift!!!!

So exciting! Coming up on year 2 of having Albie dog!!!! It’s easy to remember, because the shelter really pushed for me to pick him up on the last day of February so they could fluff up their monthly numbers (February being the shortest month, their adoption total was always low).

I think I want to get him one of those little felt dog igloos. He really likes digging himself into blankets, and this feels like the same thing. But the challenge is, which felt dog igloo design do I go for?

      • LOL the pineapple is cute but Albie looks like such a serious dog and I thought the serious home would be better. But I only know him from photos, you are the one who knows his character (and who will have to look at this kennel everyday)

        • He does always look very serious, which is the appeal of the pineapple. Serious little Albie Dog in a Pineapple would make me laugh and laugh.

  1. I bought one for Teddi to hide in when there’s a storm. She’s only 15 pounds and it was too small. Make sure Albie will fit in whatever you choose.
I ended up getting a mid-size doggie crate for $11. I removed the door, put a pillow and blanket inside and covered it with another blanket that I slit in front so she could get in and out. She loves it. Doesn’t have to be a storm. She goes in to get warm, with her toys, or to hide her chew bones. It’s 6° here today, inside temp struggling to hold at 65°, so she’s in it now.

    • This is my concern! I’m thinking I’m going to have to be really careful, maybe get a specially made one from Etsy or something. I think of Albie Dog as small because he is under 30 pounds, but I think “small dog” as a size can mean anything from 10 to 30 pounds depending.

Albie Dog loves being buried in blankets, but he has to wait for a human with thumbs to tuck him in. I thought maybe with this, he could crawl into the cave, and it would be like he is burying himself in blankets.

  2. Yes, do get one. Albie will burrow and be content. Teddi’s pillow/blanket crate is about 24″ high and deep, and about 18″ wide. It’s roomy but also snug enuf so that she feels comfy. It’s collapsable too, and slips right into the trunk of my car. Good luck! And Happy 2-yr Day. Albie.

    • Albie has had such an exciting 2 years! Moved in with me and just as he was getting used to the routine after a year, pandemic hit and his whole life went crazy again. No wonder he needs to sleep all the time, it’s stressful!

That’s also part of the reason I am thinking of getting him a bed. He’s a bit of a nomad, going from my place to my parents and back again, so if we had a nice small soft bed, then he could have a “home” no matter where he was.

    • True. And it will look like the shark is eating the dog, what could be better?
