Stupid snow! It’s not that I mind the snow itself, I usually like the adventure of snow. It’s that the snow makes it almost impossible to drive and, with the pandemic, driving is the only way I can get out of the house and have human contact. That little “good morning” exchange with the Starbucks drive through was all that is keeping me sane. Anyway, I’m having a hard week. Feeling a wee bit trapped, and also a wee bit sick (stupid snowstorm also causing a stupid weather related migraine). So I really really need a happy movie, and my brain has turned to mush and I can’t think of one.
It’s Abhishek’s birthday week, and also Urmila’s. Since my brain is mush, the only Abhishek movie I can think of is Sarkar (not happy!) and the only Urmila movie I can think of is Pinjar (very not happy!).
There’s gotta be something else, right? Doesn’t have to be Abhishek or Urmila. Just something super super happy that we can all watch and go “ahhhhh, I feel better”.
Maybe a Shahrukh movie? What’s a super super super happy Shahrukh movie we haven’t already watched?
Or should we just give into the misery and depression and watch Raees as we look at the grey skies and empty streets and think about how life is bleak and sad and maybe you are all alone and everyone else in the world is just a figment of your imagination?
/rises from the dead:
Maybe we could watch DDLJ? Is there ever a bad time to watch that?
Or maybe, not SRK though, Jab We Met?

But we’ve done DDLJ! At least, I thought we had?
I know we haven’t done Jab We Met, definitely a possibility, so happy!

I know we have, but it was the first thing that popped into my head ❤
And I love JWM so if you haven't done it yet……I'm just saying…just saying, is all…

Aw, I love Jab We Met too.

If you want a movie with both Urmila and Abhishek then you can do with Om Jai Jagadish. It is not a great movie but those types of movies are great for watchalongs. It is on Einthusan and Prime if you have Eros Now.
Other Abhishek movies:
Dhai Akshar Prem Ke (I would have said Kuch Naa Kaho, which is my absolute favorite but it is impossible to find a copy of that movie with subtitles)
Bunty Aur Babli
Dostana
Refugee
Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon
Other Urmila movies:
Chamatkar (because it also has Shah Rukh and Naseerudhin Shah).
Jaanam Samjha Karo
Lajja

Urmila is in Om Jai Jagadish???? I have no memory of that. Maybe because all I remember is Anil and Mahima’s super cute love story. That is DEFINITELY a good choice if it weren’t for the ErosNow factor. HATE THEM.
Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon is practically crying out for a watchalong. Dostana too, except I remember it gets really draggy towards the end.
I also thought about Lajja!!!! If you take it seriously, Most Depressing Movie Ever. But if you take it with a little camp and melodrama, pretty fun. Except for Rekha.

OJJ is on Einthusan too, so you can ignore the Eros Now part. I hate them too but sometimes they have movies that I can’t find anywhere else.
And yes, MPKDH is begging for a watching along. It’s so frickin ridiculous and happy to the point of crazy! I included Lajja knowing that if I watched it, I would just go make food or take the dog for a watch during the sad Rekha scene.

Oh and don’t forgot about Chamatkar. It has SRK and Urmila and a ghost and it is just ridiculous and happy also!

Chamatkar!! When I watched that my sister walked into the living room while I was watching it and was like “oh, so you’re **actually** into these movies,” because I’d been watching the high production quality Farah Khan movies up until then. XD

Chamatkar is so happy! And it has the Bichoo song. Although also, Naseerji’s story is sad.

I haven’t seen many Abhishek or Urmila movies, but my first thought for Shahrukh suggestions is always Chennai Express. It’s one of my faves, it’s silly and happy, and there’s no way we’ve watched it yet because I would have been all over it.

OMG, that might be PERFECT!!!! It’s so dang sunny. In every way.

How about something totally offbeat. A comedy/romance starring….Vijay Raaz…as the hero! It is Raghu Romeo, on Einthusan. It puts the “say, what?” in quirky.

Manmarziyaan is my fave Abi film. He was so good in it, understated but powerful. I wasn’t a fan until then but now I am. Went back to watch his development as an actor from early films to the recent crime series whose nane I can’t recall right now. He inherited the genes.

I’ll watch Dostana. All Urmila movies I know are Govinda. Perfectly fine ones as far as I remember, but not popular here.

From the the movies mentioned I would be happy with: Jab We Met, Bunty Aur Babli, Chennai Express, Dostana, or Chamatkar. Yes Boss always makes me personally feel better, but I’m not sure it qualifies as super happy.

Yes!!! Yes Boss makes me so happy!! Margaret – Can we please to do that for a watchalong at some point?

Write an angry letter to Netflix! They still haven’t bought it! Or I guess, an angry letter to SRK asking him why he hasn’t gotten the rights yet.

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na
Aisha (my personal fave, though I know most people don’t like it)
Hulchul
Chance Pe Dance
and…none of them fill the criteria. But they are very light and fluffy. Like a meringue.
