Happy Saturday!!!! I am planning to be SO PRODUCTIVE today! I’m gonna pack all my bookshelves. Or, failing that, dye my hair. One or the other, but I’m gonna finish SOMETHING.
Things to talk about!
Packing! I have a car full of stuff to take out of my apartment and put at my parents or somewhere. And I have many many boxes that I carried up the 3 flights of stairs to my apartment. And that kind of killed my shoulders, so I had a massage yesterday. And then to prepare for continued packing, I went ahead and bought their 2-for-1 deal for more massages. So I am all set! Today, I pack all my books and then carry the boxes to another room and neatly stack them. It will be FINE.
Albie Dog! Yesterday he was cold, so he dug himself all the way into his blanket on the couch and twisted to wrap it around himself. And then he rolled over, with the blanket wrapped around his head, and rolled himself all the way off the couch! He was so surprised.
As a good dog owner, which reaction do you think I had?
a) concern about potential injuries
b) sympathy for his shock
c) laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh
May Day! Are you a “wonderful celebration in honor of the worker” person, or are you a “hang baskets with flowers on doors” person? Or do you not celebrate at all?
Anushka Sharma! It’s her birthday! And next weekend, her first mother’s day! Virat better be showering her with gifts.
Thank you for the Mother’s Day card!
I liked the hanging baskets for May Day we did to cheer ourselves and our neighborhood up, and I meant to do it again this year. But our friends next door decamped for a few months to someplace warmer, and there’s too much of everything going on right now, and I forgot. Sigh. Maybe next year.

If you did it every year, it would no longer be special 🙂

Second try! I watched a couple of Govinda movies with very fighty women in them. Have there been any movies lately (past five years or so) that have had women doing a lot of fighting? I don’t really watch a lot of action, but I don’t recall seeing a modern one at all. For the purpose of this question, ones where it’s Kangana doing the fighting don’t count.

Oh, it didn’t load for me earlier. Honestly it looks pretty great, if the men didn’t look like that I’d watch it.

I’m more concerned about Sanya’s strange skin colour.

Sonakshi Sinha! She does fighting in almost everything, and I love it. Also Katrina in Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai. Oh, and Shraddha Kapoor! In Baaghi and Saaho and maybe other stuff I haven’t seen.
I know what you mean though. The whole heroine who gets in there with fighting thing seems to have gone the way of all Masala stuff since the 80s. It’s still there in bits and pieces, but not nearly as glorious as it once was.
Oh, except for Bahubali! I just rewatched those movies with a friend who hadn’t seen them, and the heroines are AWESOME.

Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota has some good fight scenes for Radhika Madan. And Taapsee in Naam Shabana.

She fought in Saaho?? I don’t remember that at all.
It’s stupid that that’s a trope that’s disappearing, but then even the love in spite of parents trope is gone now except for boys sometimes, so I guess it was to be expected.
