Friday Watchalong: Veere Di Wedding! 4pm Chicago Time!!!

Yaaaay!!! And also “boo, einthusan”. This is a week where you really have to wait for me to say “and play” because sometimes it is hinky.

I love love love this movie! And it is Sonam and it is queer friendly, so perfect for Pride/Sonam birthday week

I’ll put up an “and play” comment at 4 (or soon after, Gods of streaming be with me) and you can all start commenting along!

  1. Okay, these 4 outfits, which would you pick to wear? I think I’m going with Swara because those sleeves look crazy fun.

  2. OMG, I love that the insult to Gay Uncle is “you are a coward who goes around hiding your relationship!” It’s not just neutral, it’s aggressively pro-Queer.

  3. Just to check myself on understandings, the issue with Sonam’s dude is that he isn’t Western, global, well-educated, white collar type? Even though his family is very rich, he is not-classy rich?

  4. Oh, before I forget! I watched the HBO miniseries “The Flight Attendant” this weekend and the friendship in that is really REALLY similar to the friendships in this. If you want more friendships.

  5. Ooh they didn’t bleep out all the Indian swears. Maybe they just bleep out certain ones like when Sonam yelled at Nirmal

    • I just get distracted by the timeline. Because she says it’s been a year, but her son is 2. So did she have a drought post-birth, then swing back, then start feeling ugly and gross a year ago and stop again?

      • You aren’t supposed to have sex for at least 2 months after giving birth. So maybe they waited a few months longer, tried having sex a couple times but she is tired from having a newborn and feeling down from not losing the pregnancy weight so they stop?

  6. Maybe Sonam uses this dude as a hookup for a while, then he convinces her to have an actual date and she discovers she enjoys just spending time with hima nd eventually reluctantly has to admit they are in an actual relationship? Oh OH! What if they never get married, but still have kids?

  7. Who is worse, Nirmal for judging Sonam for one kiss and wanting a prenup? Or Swara’s husband for shaming her for her appearance and then blackmailing her to get a big settlement? I just think we need to decide before the end of the movie.

  8. My frustrating part of listening to Bangra Ta Sajda on my phone is that the intro is so long in the full song! Get to the good stuff already!
