Saturday Small Talk: Chat Away While I Organize a Kitchen!

Well, I’ve had a very productive day! Did the watchalong, did laundry, organized my bedroom, got my haircut, started the process of organizing my kitchen, and then remembered I forgot to do the small talk post. Which brings us to here and now.

Things to talk about!

Sid M. is in yet another patriotic film that I will be ignoring. The film I mean, not Sid M. Yaaaaaaay, Sid M!!! Getting good reviews and stuff! You deserve it.

Speaking of pretty people, Harsh has a new watch and really loves it. Oh Harsh!

Okay, y’all can talk about that and whatever else you want, I’m doing another hardware store run for more drawer liner paper.

  1. Man, I was wondering if/when you were gonna review Shershaah. I heard it’s patriotic but not jingoistic, it’s his best performance to date, and Bhuj is way worse as a movie. That one I’ll be avoiding. But I’m definitely checking out Shershaah when I get the chance. I’m so thrilled to see Sid finally get the praise he’s always deserved.

    • Shershaah’s definitely his best performance and the movie is pretty good too. Patriotism is very much present, but it isn’t over the top.

  2. I also want a Shershah review!!

Actually, for independence day, I feel like watching a jingoistic patriotic movie…and I am spoilt for choice. Should I watch Sid save the day in Shershah? Or watch Ajay Devgan take the credit for women’s bravery in Bhuj? Or I can also see how Akshay Kumar single-handedly rescues 200 hostages in Bell Bottom?

I know I know you are not going to review any of these movies…but based on the trailers…which one should I watch? Which one will be the most fun?

    • Akshay Kumar single-handedly rescues 200 hostages in Bell Bottoms? I didn’t think I wanted to watch an Akshay Kumar move, but maybe I do…

  3. Happy Birthday to India’s independence from the British! India has huge problems just like America blah blah… but using your birthday rule, nice things only on birthdays! Since I celebrated America’s Birthday with silly Indian songs in America, thanks to your post, I think it’s important to celebrate India’s birthday the same way.

With that, here are the songs I am celebrating India with today that are happy and fun and capture the true spirit of India:

India Waale from Happy New Year because duh!

    Chak De India

Vande Mataram from ABCD 2 because there is nothing better than a dance off to celebrate India.

And finally Rang De Basanti because it’s Rehman and it’s a classic

  4. I’m staying away from all new ‘patriotic’ movies so not gonna see Shershah, but the actual story of Vikram Batra has stayed with me for a long time and reads so much like a movie. I came to know of him during our trip to Ladakh, when we stayed in Kargil for a night and visited an Indian Army museum. It was already a sombre experience, being in actual place of a brutal war I still remembered seeing on TV, but his story had me crying, and was on my mind for the whole tour. Internet was patchy in the region and I went in search of a cafe to look him up. I thought then, if his story was made into a film, I would think they had made stuff up to make it ‘filmy’. I’m glad Sid is getting praise, but I know the film can’t replicate the emotional impact I already felt long back.

  5. My sister just told me about a Disney Channel movie that premiered this weekend with an Indian protagonist and turns out ABHAY DEOL is in it!!!

This is wild to me cuz I just watched ZNMD for the first time.

    • Ahhh why didn’t I know about this?! Thanks for the heads up.

It says it’s released but I can’t find it on my Disney Plus app. Does anyone know what’s going on or when it will be released on the app.

      • It’s a Disney Channel Original Movie, so it premiered on TV, not on any app. I did some quick research, and I think it might be available on the Disney Channel website, but it’s one of those things where you have to sign in using your cable provider to watch it. That never works for me, so it might be easier if you just look for it to replay on TV. Idk.

      • I think Disney Plus gets the movies once Disney has decided they have gotten all the money they can from the TV premiere. I’m gonna guess, if this film is a hit, they will have a whole big announcement and ads and stuff once they release it online. But if it is a flop, it will just sneak on without any talk in a week or so.

    • I don’t like the pearl veil, but the rest of the outfit is beautiful.

I’m a little puzzled by the dress code at this wedding. I was sure that yesterday, the wedding day everybody will be very decked out and elegant but no. Especially men were wearing quite simple kurtas. Today is the reception day, and Arjun who yesterday wore blue kurta today wears suit, but his sisters simple floreal afternoon dresses.. Is this a tea party or what?

      • I think they wanted to go a bit more casual for the wedding reception. Considering how BIG Sonam’s wedding was I think Rhea is more on the practical side with this. More comfort over couture I think.
