Saturday WatchAlong: Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham! For Diwali! And Joy! 7:30am Chicago time

Happy Saturday!!! And very VERY happy last-day-before-daylight-savings. I am sick of this! Very ready for an extra hour of sleep and the sun to be up when I walk the dog in the morning.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

On Netflix and everywhere else in the world! Starting at 7:30am Chicago time. I will put up an “and PLAY” comment and then we will comment along from there!

Bask in our Amitabh-hate, Shahrukh-love, and Hrithik amused tolerance!

  1. My sister and I practiced saying Chandu Ke Chacha Ne, Chandu Ki Chachi Ko, Chandni-Chowk Mein, Chandni Raat Mein, Chaandi Ke Chammach Se Chatni Chatai after this movie because we are dorks!

  2. We all already know this story, but I don’t care. Kajol struggled and struggled to get the thick Delhi accent right for her character. And Shahrukh’s character immitates it a lot to make fun of her. But in reality, it is Shahrukh’s natural accent and he drove Kajol CRAZY by being able to do it so easily while she struggled.

  3. I have yet to show this movie to a single person who doesn’t go “what is up with the weird vibe between Amitabh and Rani?” It’s so WEIRD!!!! And SEXUAL! And Innappropriate!!!

  4. Okay, this is legit cute, Amitabh and Jaya together. Maybe Amitabh really WANTS to not be a Tool, but he is imitating the way he was raised and so is a constant struggle between his actual personality and what he thinks he should be doing?

  5. Kajol as a daughter-in-law is gonna be so good for Amitabh!!!! She’s gonna soften him up like crazy. And also, just ignore and talk over him which is honestly what he needs most of all.

  6. The whole “Sayeeda, take away the messy emotional thing” interaction is VERY MUCH how I imagine his parenting. As soon as the kids aren’t perfect and easy, he orders the nanny to take them away and “fix” them.

  7. Karan does a really good job with this scene. This is punching up versus punching down!!!! It wasn’t right for lil Pooja to be so mean when he visited her neighborhood, but that is different from teasing that relates to real world injustices.

    • I stopped reading these comments to fully focus on the amazing chemistry. Whoof. I didn’t even mind the arm grab as much as I usually do. Pain. I predict their relationship will involve some light S & M.

  8. I am warming up tiny idly, sambar, and chutney for breakfast and it is making me so happy! Why do tiny food items taste so much better than regular sized ones?

  9. He doesn’t want to attend the servant’s wedding. Most importantly it is shown that he is a jerk for not attending. So employers are expected to be personally involved in their servants lives.

  10. One of my favorite SRK dance songs EVER! He is so stunning, and Kajol is so beautiful, and the two of them together are so awesome. And so well choreographed and filmed. And again, SRK is so beautiful!
