Saturday WatchAlong: Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham! For Diwali! And Joy! 7:30am Chicago time

Happy Saturday!!! And very VERY happy last-day-before-daylight-savings. I am sick of this! Very ready for an extra hour of sleep and the sun to be up when I walk the dog in the morning.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

On Netflix and everywhere else in the world! Starting at 7:30am Chicago time. I will put up an “and PLAY” comment and then we will comment along from there!

Bask in our Amitabh-hate, Shahrukh-love, and Hrithik amused tolerance!

  1. Hrithik doesn’t tell Shahrukh because he is secretly afraid of rejection, right? I used to try to come up with some logical “I will sneak into the house and secretly soften him” plot, but ultimately I think the performances say he is just afraid.

  2. phew patoo, I only have 15 more minutes of movie watching. Even though I like the first half better, I do want to see the rest and I am NOT looking forward to this mornings sporting event.

  3. This is the kind of insane dancing I don’t think Hrithik can do any more. But on the other hand, all that jumping and flapping is I think hiding slightly less good sense of melody and stuff than he has in Jai Jai Shiv Shankar. Or else I am over thinking this.

  4. Suggestion! What if we think of this whole movie as a diatribe against parents who throw out their LGBTQ+ children? You think “look, they survived, they thrived, they are adults, it doesn’t hurt any more”, but it does still hurt them and it continues to hurt the parents too.

  5. I love the immediate concern in Kajol’s eyes for SRK when Hrithik mentions elders. And all of a sudden she calls him “aap” instead of “tum.” I love their marriage.

    • YES! This is one of those “he is still the head of the household and the respected husband” moments. No one is afraid of him, but everyone still revolves around him.

  6. Love Kajol and SRK’s interactions, continue to think Kajol’s top is slightly too small for her and gives her a tummy she doesn’t have.

  7. Filmikudhi, you should act EXACTLY like this at your son’s school concerts! Tears, whistling, whole thing. A little prayer before he performs.

    • Oh man, can I?! If my mom serves as an example, I will be close. There was no tears but my goodness she was LOUD and she would get all the other people around her cheer also. Thsi happened even as an adult at events like 10 milers and 1/2 marathons. I have no idea how she would get everyone around her to come together and cheer.
