I was already thinking about this as a fanfic and then I realized it was Helen’s birthday! So it’s EVEN MORE perfect!!!
Real Story (SPOILERS for the Helen and Olga podcast)
Helen was a wealthy widow and Olga a hardworking Hungarian immigrant. The two women met volunteering at a homeless shelter and started scamming together. They would file for credit cards under the names of the homeless men, and fake accidents for insurance money, and icky things. And then they started offering homeless men a place to live and some money and taking care of them for a few years. In return, all they had to do was sign a few papers. And then they killed them, reaping the rewards in dozens of separately filed insurance claims. An insurance investigator finally caught on to them and brought in the police, the police tracked down a homeless man who survived because he knew in his gut something was wrong and turned down their offer, and finally they pieced the whole thing together and arrested the women.
In my Hindi version, I want Olga to be Kirron Kher, hardworking blunt lower class. And Helen can be Helen!!!! Wealthy widow who wants more money, sits there and plans and files papers while Olga does the legwork to find and take care of the men until it is time to kill them.
Naturally I need a romance, what about Rani for the insurance investigator and Shahrukh for the man who survived? He can be a down on his luck ex-soldier who sensed something was wrong and then teams up with Rani to be her undercover informant as they slowly fall in love.

What tone did you have in mind??
Do they just go around killing for selfish greed? Can we give them some backstory or some type of moral principles to make them more likable….or do you want to make them unlikeable but also “cool” like Tabu in Adhadhun? Ooh, could also make them ditzy/clumsy…two middle-aged women struggling to commit the murders and hide the bodies could be funny…Imagine Helen – Kirron struggling to carry a body and then arguing about who’s back hurts more…that could be hilarious!!

I want Helen and Kirron to be straight up BAD. The villainous bad guys who we want to defeat. And Rani and SRK are the heroes. And not blundering, that’s what was so surprising about the real story, everyone underestimated these nice old ladies, and turns out they were smart and strong and 5 steps ahead of the cops. Like, the team assigned to following the real life Olga almost couldn’t keep up with her because she would do a 5 mile hike every morning.
So, like a Rohit Shetty movie, but the villains are Kirron Kher and Helen instead of Prakash Raj.

How does one go from volunteering at a homeless shelter to killing those same people? I don’t get the psychology behind that.

I think they were always volunteering in order to find victims. But at first just for simple identity theft.
