OTT releases, movies in theaters only some of us saw, it’s all confusing. I’m gonna try to limit it down to the movies that mattered to DCIB world. Let me know if there is something I am missing from the list that you think should be included. I’m looking for movies that a fair number of DCIB people have seen so we can judge them. Oh, and tell me if there is something I should remove because no one really watched it.

Atrangi Re – I know I didn’t watch a whole lot of Indian films this year, but it would be at the top of my list anyway. It has my vote!

Also, for southern films, then Karnan is top of that list. It was amazing! I just forgot about it when commenting. The Great Indian Kitchen is a close second.

I had completely forgotten I had watched Time to Dance. I think it wins by default for me, it’s probably the best Indian movie from 2021 I watched????!!! What was that movie where the hero gets overinvested in the heroine’s teen sister’s sex life?

I also saw Hum Bhi Akele, Tum Bhi Akele but I think I’m the only one who saw that, maybe Angie also? Also Luca Alias Johnny which apparently was 2021. God, it’s a tough year when it’s between Luca Alias Johnny and Time to Dance for best movie.

Not like or didn’t like, I’m just trying to find the ones in common. Normally I just do the theatrical releases, but that doesn’t work this year.

I didn’t get much chance to watch new releases until I finished moving house in mid-September, so I missed pretty much everything that came out earlier in the year. Besides ones you mention, here are a few that I saw and that others may have gotten the chance to see:
’83
Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui
Shyam Singha Roy
Tadap

So far I think my favorites of the ones you’ve listed are Haseena Dillruba and Pagglait. I don’t know if I can choose between the two, but I guess if a gun were put to my head I’d say HD because it’s so different? But I don’t know, Pagglait was also. Mimi I liked but had issues with. Sooryavanshi was whatever.
However, I’m finally on a bit of a break and on a mission to watch Sherni and Atrangi Re and maybe Sardar Udham if I can squeeze it in, so my vote might change by Sunday.

Of this list, I’ve only seen Atrangi Re and Mimi (so far, I’ve been meaning to watch Love Story forever). But I think Atrangi Re edges Mimi out slightly. Maybe it’s cuz of the communal experience of watching it for the first time with you all. Idk. ❤
