This was a lowkey adopt-a-versary this year, just the two of us, he got an extra long walk and a cookie from my parents and a present that I ordered last minute because I almost forgot. But the People of DCIB requested an Albie photo post in honor of his Special Day, so here you are!
Albie Dog! In the shelter. With kennel cough. And NO BRAIN. They told me “oh yes, he is very low energy, calm, mature” and I looked at this waggy little dummy and thought “you are a stupid active puppy but I will pretend I don’t know that because the nice shelter people think I am stupid and they can trick me.” Oh, and I have VIDEO!

So they suckered me in and convinced me to take this sweet little demon dog home before he gave everyone else kennel couch. And the first night he seemed…sad? Tired? Confused? Just really really sick?

But look! Just a year later! So much more cheerful for his first adopt-a-versary!!!! I made him a cake and gave it to him and he ate it in about two seconds.

Last year, even more excitement! I bought him TWO cupcakes. And he ate them very quickly. And then he threw up. Don’t worry, I did not take the photo of the throw up.

This year, as I said, lowkey. I bought him a snuffle mat!!!! And then I broke up the cookie my parents gave me for him and hit it in his snuffle mat. And then he went snuffle snuffle snuffle. And I have VIDEO! Two videos!
Best post to wake up to! Thank you. Albie Day Everyday!

That’s not true. He has learned to love you with all his heart! 🥺

Has he though? Or has he learned to love me while I am in his eye line and actively talking to him, but otherwise has no memory of my existence?

I have seen how happy he is when you come home. He misses you so much!
Also, staying at the grandparents’ house doesn’t count. They are just more fun than we ever will be. My dog could care less about me if he’s with my dad!

It’s a snuffle mat! I feel like if there was a human version, my nephew would really like it.

well, they have play mats for babies where they lie on their backs and look up at cool things hanging over them, or roll over and look at cool things underneath them. And then there are those chair things surrounded by a plastic toys to play with. But in general people don’t hide food from babies – unless it is Easter.

My nephew is now at the age where each meal is a journey. As in, carrying a piece of bread around the house and dropping crumbs everywhere and then going back and occasionally eating the crumbs when he is hungry and stumbles upon them.

Yes, I suppose they invented babygates for a reason! (not that I used them, we just lived, and live in crumbs).

My friend with a 4 year old has no crumbs on the floor, and a morbidly obese dog.
