It’s Sunday, I’ve ordered coffee, I’ve walked the dog, I am ready to watch a nice South Indian version of Jane Austen.
Kandukondain Kandukondain! Lovely lovely movie, and I challenge you to pick between Ajit and Mammootty as Best Man Ever by the end of it. Best Woman Ever is easy, that is always Tabu.

At 8am Chicago time, I will put up an “And PLAY” comment and we will all comment along together from there!
If a man said any of the romantic lines Mammootty was saying “your voice is like a flower” I would melt there and then

But he’s not saying them all romantic like the way Abbas does! He’s saying it blunt and casual. I agree with you, but I love how he actually has the best lines, but Aish doesn’t notice it because he’s not delivering them like a movie hero.

Yea he is saying them normally and earnestly, which makes them so romantic

He isn’t saying them romantic, but also he isn’t young and handsome so whatever he says she doesn’t listen the right way.

Least favorite song of the movie for me.

Yea it is a little one-note compared to the other songs, but then again their romance is supposed to be kinda one-note I guess

But the setting is beautiful! (She says Scottishly :D)

I know, that’s why I’m bigging it up! To be honest, I’m not generally a fan of our scenery – kind of dark and bleak most of the year – but I become suddenly patriotic about it on the rare occasion I see it in a movie.

Oh oh! Is Kuch Kuch songs in Scotland too?

Yes, but I don’t remember where!

Aarzoo (1999) has a whole song with Saif in it set in Edinburgh. If you haven’t seen it then recommend it! Movie is a so bad it’s good level, especially if you just roll with the leaps in logic.

Thanks for the tip! It sounds familiar…I think I watched it during my big Akshay Kumar phase, but will have to watch it again to be sure!

To be honest, I am kind of against Ajith. Don’t try to make an American script for a Tamil audience! Listen to the people!

Yeah. That’s what ruined Bollywood movies!

By the way, Brahmastra has an English Dub on Disney Plus and apparently it makes so much more sense than the Hindi version. So, yeah, ruining definitely because the Hindi dialogues were cringe

I watched only SRK part and didn’t like English version. I prefer him talking Hindi

Aish continues to redeem herself! Yes, be supportive to Tabu! Instead of earlier when she was all “I can’t be as heartless as you about losing the man I love”.

The writing in this movie is so so good! The subtle character changes makes it so satisfying

Oooo, see how Tabu took the receptionist job just to do something and trusted it would work out? But Manohar won’t compramise? Male privilage! As in, the privilage to only worry about himself and have confidence in his ambitions.

YES! My favorite song!!!!!! Some days, my favorite Rahman song EVER

Ajith is such a surprisingly good dancer! He doesn’t have a dancers body, or move like a dancer, but when he has to he can really turn it on!

I love when he smiles and act sexy 🥰

I love how casual that scene is. So we can fill in that Manohar has just made himself into part of their household and every day life. Really this movie is a total gender flip, the sons-in-law fall in love with the whole family and join the bride’s house instead of hte other way around.

Does anyone else kind of feel like Tabu’s boss has a thing for her?

I would totally watch a movie where the boss proposes a marriage of convenience without confessing that he actually loves her and then they fall in love.

PREACH it Tabu!!!! You alone SHOULD be enough for anyone to want to marry you!

Ugh, I love this song and the visuals of the studio recording, but then they have to throw in flashbacks to the Worst song

They are literal FIRE in that movie. I don’t want to see Aish in a film with anyone else other than Vikram because of it. They are just that good together! Their chemistry is mindblowing!

Love the argument that she is more than just a good luck or bad luck charm, she can actually DO stuff and accomplish things and be a person.

So that whole argument was just stupid relationship drama? They just had to have one last big fight before making up? If it wasn’t Ajith and Tabu I would have no patience for this.
