Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay, a nice Christmas black and white romance. With smart dialogue and a baby and a cool department store setting.
Bachelor Mother
It’s available for rent on loads of services. And it has a gritty realism which should speak to the new mothers among us, including a deeply felt monologue about how “you put the baby on his back so he can sleep, and then he rolls over and starts to cry, so you get up and put him on his back again, and then he rolls over and starts to cry, so then you get up and put him on his back again, and then it’s 8am and you’re at work”.

At 8am Chicago time I will put up an “and PLAY” comment and then we will all go along from there!
A mother asking her son to lie! So sweet.

Looked up Leonard Penn because I find him attractive and realised I did that the last time I watched this too. D’oh

“I don’t care who the father is. I am the GRANDFATHER!” I kind of LOVE that line!

That line “I don’t care who the father is, I’m the Grandfather!!!” is delightful. Charles Coburn, I love you.

It is my favorite line of the movie!

Mrs. Weiss should be a spy. In my headcanon, they hire her as the nanny and Charles Coburn falls in love with her.

Spouse is making fun of their accents and the way Niven said “marry”.

Niven is a SAINT! He went back to England and joined the RAF. Ginger was nuts though.

Oh, I love that movie so much! And in my Head Canon, Mrs. Weiss becomes the baby’s nanny and seduces Charles Coburn and ends up running the house like a nice cozy house should be run. And keeps Charles Coburn from taking over raising the baby, which you KNOW he wants to do.

This was so much fun! Thanks, ladies.
And now, husband and I are going to be “terrible parents” and leave Mr. Pre-Toddles with a a babysitter while we go workout! It’s not quite a party but close.

So long as your babysitter is like Mrs. Weiss. And I just know realized my sisters babysitter actually IS Mrs. Weiss. Only maybe 10 years younger.

Ours is a overachieving, ridiculously responsible high school student who frankly knows more about children than I do. She is the one who showed me how to properly change a diaper.

That is also a very good kind of babysitter to have.
