Happy Monday! And happy day I finally get a real sink installed! I’ve been living with a temporary sort of okay option until March and I am very excited to get my For Real one put in. And then the kitchen will be set and NO MORE CONSTRUCTION (knock on wood).
Here is where you get to ask me anything from “Hey! Where’s the Day 19 SRK post???” to “When is SRK’s new movie releasing?” Just keep swinging back here all week as you think of new questions!
Now, question for you! Gonna keep it simple. What do you think is SRK’s best movie ever?
This was gonna be hard for me to answer, and then I remembered DDLJ exists. I truly think it’s the best film he has ever made, as a complete work of art.
I think DDLJ is best but I feel more for kkhh

I had such a hard time with that! I love KKHH, but as a film, it’s just not as good (dialogue, cinematography, etc. etc.).

IMO the best SRK’s film is Fan. The idea, the double role, the courage to make a movie like that in India. It leaves you bitter taste in the mouth, and thats why people didn’t love it (me included), but I think it’s a very good movie.

IT’s so so so so good. You’ll see on my other posts that I picked it up at the top for everything.

Jab Harry Met Sejal. But Fan might be a close second.

I was thinking about Yaariyan 2, because I remembered its release date was October 20th or something like that but as there was absolutely no buzz or nothing so I was confused. I checked and it came out last week. The funny thing is that, as I said, nobody talks about this movie, but it has over 10.000 votes on imdb and almost all are 10 or 9 stars with reviews like: what a gem! Mastepiece! And other big words. I don’t think if I’ve ever seen a more fake rating.

No SRK in KWK this season either π’. I think firmly doesn’t want to do interview after Aryan episode

I need to get this off my chest in a safe space. I’m overseas on a work trip. And i was just hanging out with a colleague while I’m here… And tonight he asks me if I’ll be going up to his room as i was exiting the lift.
He’s married with a 12yo son.
Wtf??? I said no and walked off.
What do the friends here have for me in the way of advice or comfort?
I’m feeling so put off, shocked, scared and many other things I’m not able to tune into. I’m feeling violated.

First, that is Not Okay at all and you are allowed all your feelings. Second, note down the day and time and location and all those details while they are fresh in your mind so you have a record.
Once you are back in the office, it is up to you if you decide to report this to HR. At the very least, that would create a record of the behavior so that if it happens again, there is a history to point to (who knows, maybe he has done this before with other female coworkers and you will be the person adding to the record). You are also perfectly justified in requesting not to be assigned with this person again once you explain the situation. It is also possible that you might report to HR, they open an investigation, and determine there is not enough evidence for any action at this time. That would be disappointing and frustrating, but again it creates a record. In America, it is illegal to create a hostile work environment in response to an HR report. So if you decide to move forward, and an investigation ends up in no action, you can also report any kind of retributive action against you for reporting.
This is not something you need to tell your manager or anyone else on your direct line of command if you do not want to. The only appropriate place to report it would be to an HR department separated from your direct department. If you do feel comfortable and want to report/discuss it with a manager, again make sure to document the conversation.
You should have a company policy in your employee handbook or elsewhere for situations such as this. If you have an employee handbook and feel overwhelmed with trying to figure it out, you can email me directly and I can help you walk through what next steps would be.
Again, you don’t have to do ANYTHING if you don’t want to. The one thing I would recommend is that you make a written note of the incident so that, in the future, you have a record if you change your mind and decide to report it.
And I am going to go ahead and link you up with Filmikudhi because she deals with this kind of thing in her work life and may be able to give you more advice, or at least support. If nothing else, it will be a nice distraction from dealing with a newborn!

Thank you so much. This is so validating. I’m sobbing now.
Should I just record it as an event in a doc that persists? On my work folder?
The HR – i don’t know what they will or will not do. But I want to report it for my sake. It’s never happened to me before, working for this employer.

The simplest thing would be to email it to yourself. So there is a record of the time you originally wrote down the account (this is an idea I got from my crime podcasts from an interview with an expert on abuse, isn’t it clever?)

Yes I just emailed it from my personal email to my work email. Just a brief note. I’ll read the handbook now. I feel unsafe.

I’ve reported it to the HR. I’m afraid of being blamed for hanging out with him. π

Absolutely not. Spending time with a colleague on a work trip is not permission for them to make you feel unsafe.

Especially – I’m in Taiwan and it is tough here if you don’t read/speak Chinese so it was helpful to hang out with him to just navigate food menus and restaurants even. π

Another day and night here. Leaving on Friday morning and arriving back on Saturday morning PST. One more day and I’ll be very careful to avoid this person or be polite and distant if it’s unavoidable.
I only know work colleagues here and that’s not helpful for this issue… So sensitive

If you are still feeling really shaken up, I can see if any of my Bay Area connections are around. No promises, but I have more people there than I do in Taiwan. And also more advice for places you can go to talk it through.

I’m ok I think… The reporting it to HR was helpful because I don’t have to contain it within me anymore. I feel for a colleague to do this – it’s predatory behavior

Spouse is looking for a battle scene from the time of British/East India Company Conquest of India – early conquest – to use in a High School history lesson.
I gave him the RRR village battle scene but he wants earlier. I thought of Thugs of Hindostan, but it doesn’t have anything in a traditional battle sense. An internet search brought me to The Rising: The Ballad of Mangal Pandey – but I haven’t seen it so don’t know if there is a battle scene in it (I have to pay for it, though not much). Does anyone know if there is a good battle scene in the The Rising?
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Manikarnika maybe? I haven’t seen the movie but wasn’t it about Laxmibai vs The British?

Yes, but then Genevieve’s husband would have to give his class a twenty minute lecture on why Kangana is The Worst and Sonu Sood is The Best, and htat would just slow down history class π

Ooooo! Mangal Panday is about the start of the 1857 rebellion. So if he is covering that in his class, the last 10 minutes are actually really good. It’s the execution of Mangal Panday, and then a quick montage of how that started the flame of the rebellion.
But if he is doing early-early, that’s a bit trickier. Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is probably the best one! It’s about the pre-1857 rebellions, and it has a TON of battle scenes. you can hardly turn around without running into a battle scene.

I was checking Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy to see if there was a battle, because I never finished that movie, and yes, there is:
And there is an other movie about Laxmibai:
