Weekend WatchAlong: Dil To Pagal Hai! 4pm Chicago Time! Let’s Get DANCEY!!!!

An afternoon watchalong! Radical! And Dil To Pagal Hai, a movie I find dull, but SRK is charming and the songs are okay, so I will survive.

Dil To Pagal Hai

It’s on Prime, and available for rent at all the places. My second least favorite Madhuri-SRK collaberation (Koyla, Anjaam, Gaja Gamini, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam, Dil To Pagal Hai, Devdas), but undeniably a hit and important in the great Shahrukh Khan story.

At 4pm Chicago time, I will put up an “And PLAY!” comment and then we will all comment along from there.

  1. That was a really cute “Now I know I am in love” moment though. It’s not her dancing or being beautiful or any of that. It’s her being silly and goofy and also showing how much she remembers of what he says to her.

  2. So Margaret you see saying that they were showcasing a new choreographer? Did he have much success after this? I wonder because I don’t think he is very good….

  3. Ah, really interesting double screen! It’s them being cute and living together, and then their dream selves being romantic. Goes along with that “I am in love” realization moment. what he loves most is the goofy collaberative times with her, and even when they fight, there is that undertone of romance.

  4. Love that this song is sexy and also joyful, like a celebration of speaking their desires. And it was more personal and chemistry and everything than the other songs. Woo Farah!

  5. This song is reminding me that SRK and Madhuri actually have great song chemistry a lot of times. It’s all about her dancing and him admiring. Anjaam, Koyla, Devdas, that’s what works. them doing a dance off type side by side thing is just not right.

  6. I like that they had the whole song in the length of a single hug, and then went back to the hug.

Also, because of they typing I miss a bunch of subtitles, so does SRK know she is engaged to someone else?

  7. Listening to Lataji being the playback singer here and remembering how having her be a Yash Chopra heroine’s playback singer was such a big deal back in the 90s I think.

  8. Ok this is probably because I had watched KKHH first and then DPTH decades later but I was so reminded of Kajol running to the forest after gazebo dance here that I almost expected her to confess her feelings against a tree.

  9. Okay, love the end of Karisma’s speech. It’s not that she is upset and surprised to see him in love with someone else, it is that she is upset at herself for not being able to be happy for her friend. Such a good person!
