Thank you Naina for alerting me! I was feeling bad about skipping Animal last night, but I am sure we will all have more fun discussing this than we would Ranbir’s newest disaster!
So far, each of the three Dunki teasers have been a different format. The first was a teaser trailer, the next a song video, and now a Lyric video. What they have all had in common is that there are NO SUBTITLES!!!!! At least, not yet, maybe in future?
Anyway, this gave is a lovely slideshow! A slideshow that brings up a question, will there be a time shift? It really feels like Shahrukh is playing closer to his own age in some of these moments. So perhaps it is 3 Idiots crossed with Swades? Older SRK goes back to his village and remembers his journey to travel overseas as a young man? Perhaps with a classic Hirani twist that all the people so determined to go overseas are now happily living life in the village and NRI SRK is MISERABLE?

The latest song is haunting and beautiful and evokes longing (even w/o subtitles). And also interesting today on X and Instagram, Shah Rukh posted ab Dunki (the song) and completely in Hindi. Instagram has a feature that allows for translation. Looks like he is being very parochial.

Hahaha. You are so right. But like you said probably marketing team, not him. And while he has lots of Hindi speaking followers…a lot more around the world have no idea what was said, unless they use a translator app.

I wish I was literally skipping along with an animal! No, one of the friends I was going with got sick, and then I had a stressful day at work and my car was being weird, so we just canceled last minute.
