Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me on American President’s Day???

Happy Monday! I am still just flying from our Zoom call on Sunday! We definitely need to do more of those. And hey, I’m actually getting this post out this week ON MONDAY. Not Monday morning, but at least it’s the right day? I’m getting there.

Here is where you get to ask me anything from “how can I join the next Zoom discussion?” to “What’s President’s Day?” Just keep swinging back here all week as you think of questions!

Now, question for you! Similar to my question last week for Lincoln’s birthday. Who is your favorite historical national leader?

I’m sticking with Lincoln! He was flawed as a human, as we all are, but what I really like about him as a leader is that he actually LEAD. That is, he pushed everyone to follow him just that one step further to a better world. He didn’t run far far ahead where no one else could catch up, and he didn’t lead from behind just going with the popular opinions, he had faith that everyone could move forward just that one little bit more. Does that make sense? He respected the people he was leading, even when he disagreed with them, and tried to meet them where they were and bring them with him.

        • I can’t wait for this! Mostly because of Manisha Koirala–you just never see her anymore and I really love her. Plus Aditi and Sonakshi! I was so excited when I found out about the series that I had a dream I was arguing with someone who said Richa Chadda was Mexican. Not sure what that means.

  3. What do you do when you pick a fight with someone powerful who has no real power except over bossing over people like you? I was parking my car and that so called person had parked it in the wrong way. Being exhausted I picked a fight with that person and now I’m in trouble though it’s not a major trouble that will affect my life. Just its slightly irritating as now tomorrow I have to meet her to discuss ‘constructive’ solutions. My blood is boiling that I have to respect these lowly people but I have to somehow let it pass for now.

    • Oh, I was just talking about this in therapy this week! Remember that the meeting is just however many minutes of your life and you don’t have to think about it before or after. And do a visualization meditation where you picture this person/issue as floating away from you, or as something you see as you drive past and then is gone, or something that blows into your room and out again. There’s no “solving”, it’s just finding a way to let it take up as little of your energy as possible.

      • Thank you so much for the tips! I am planning to view it as all a big skit because I love acting and depersonalising everything. I will try your method as well in case the acting doesn’t work out. I think I have just been having a really bad day as a really expensive dress I had ordered is also fitting terribly so I am just more quick to anger than usual.
