Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me As I Am Back from Visiting Nephews?

Happy Monday! I got home yesterday afternoon and I kind of want to just sit and stare into space all day. But I can’t, because it is a work day, blech!

I had a lovely lovely visit with Nephew A and Nephew B. Nephew A showed me all his trucks, and Nephew B let me do high fives and fist bumps with him. But no cuddles. He’s so chubby and cute! I just want to cuddle him! But no, I am a Stranger and he screams bloody murder if I pick him up. Not fair.

And now I am BACK! Woo-hoo! Let’s see, what is there to talk about today? Oh! I have a question for you! Is this the weekend we do a WatchAlong of Kuch Naa Kaho? It’s been put off and rescheduled over and over again, is it finally time?

  1. I am so glad you had such a wonderful time with your nephews! I am super excited to watch Kuch Naa Kaho. Do Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evenings work for anyone? If so that would work best for me, but if we decide on Saturday or Sunday morning, I will try my best to attend but will likely be half distracted with the kids.

  2. Question: How do you feel about the fact that Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman are going to be composing for Ramayan (with Ranbir Kapoor)?

In my opinion, I am not so sure. I feel that Hans Zimmer strength lies in western music (especially piano) and AR Rahman in synth (if it is classical then something more on the lines of Sufi Music). I do wish that someone like Ajay Atul would’ve been chosen instead as their score was excellent for the Mahabharat TV series on Star Plus. I am truly unsure of what to expect as even Ponniyin Selvan I feel that the second part had a much more effective score as it was less reliant on full songs and had roots in tamil poetry.

      • I have seen it! I think a lot about it, and must admit, with every day that passes I like it a little less.. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a very good movie, but I just don’t thnk it’s such a masterpiece as everybody say.

        • So interesting! I was ok with it initially but I liked it more and more the more I think about it. I can’t say whether its a masterpiece yet as I need to gage my feelings about it still but I would love to talk about the film as a discussion. Also I’m so happy Parineeti is getting her due finally, such a natural actor.

    • I have perhaps too much faith in Rahman 🙂 So far, every genre he has experimented with, and more specifically every collaboration he’s gone into, has worked out. It seems like he enjoys the challenge and is inspired by working with new people.

      • Yeah after asking this question and then going back into a spiral of relistening to the Ponniyin Selvan and Jodhaa Akbar soundtrack I think he can do it. But I still feel Zimmer as a choice doesn’t make any sense.

        • Zimmer concerns me more. It feels like when Hindi film brings in a big name collaborator from the West, it throws off the balance. I’m thinking of Bombay Velvet, for instance, which brought in a top editor from America. The editing was fine, but the movie was a disaster, the editor was a sign that it was trying to do too many things at once. I’m worried throwing Zimmer in with Rahman is a sign that they don’t know if they want to be Ponniyin Selvan or Lord of the Rings.
