I’m Moving! For Real!

Last Saturday, there was a bit of a false alarm, I cut down on my posting because of my move, but I wasn’t actually moving, I was just spending the day knee deep in boxes.  Today I am actually moving.

The movers and their truck are on the way now.  Presumably if they are late it is because they are strolling through a sugar cane field.

 

I have to spend gobs and gobs of money on movers, because I am foolish enough to own a piano.  I don’t even play it, I just like having it because it was my grandmother’s.

(My grandmother had almost nothing else in common with Helen, but they did both love their pianos)

But the nice thing is, since I have to hire movers anyway, I can just stroll around and tell them where to put things and the whole thing will be much easier.  I hope.  I’ll report tonight if it was actually the ideal Dostana move, or if it fell short.

  1. I hope you have as enjoyable (and hassle-free!) a move as possible, even if it might not be up to Dostana standards (i.e., taking approximately thirty seconds and with a complete absence of endless boxes to unpack)! 😉

    • You will be SHOCKED to learn, that it did not live up to Dostana standards. 4.5 hours, and that was just getting the boxes and furniture out and then in at the new place. All the boxes are still packed, nothing is on the walls, and there are no attractive Desi boys pretending to be gay anywhere in the vicinity. Okay, there may be some actual gay Desi boys, based on the neighborhood, but no one pretending.

    • You are correct! If instead of a group of random interesting young people friends, it was my parents. And they didn’t have to lift any furniture, because I hired movers. But otherwise, yes! Everything is a disaster and then it slowly slowly slowly comes together. I hope. right now I am still in disaster zone.
