Fanney Khan Teaser: Who Here Has a Crush on Jazz Musician Anil Kapoor?

Me me, I do I do!!!!!  Anil should always play his own age, it’s the only way.  I am excited enough that he is getting a post all to himself because there aren’t any other teasers/trailers out today I want to talk about.

Also, does anyone know who the other photo is of that Rajkummar is looking at?  Not Shammi Kapoor, the other guy?  I feel like I am expected to recognize him and should feel bad that I don’t.

But mostly, Anil Kapoor!  I am hoping for some kind of “the dark and light of popular music” thing, Anil is a tired brilliant musician, Rajkummar is a hopeful young talent, Aishwarya is a super star, how do they all come together?  And if it ends up having a subtle meta-reference to Anil and Aish in Taal, I won’t complain.

    • No idea. Rumors about the film are that Aish is playing some sort of musical superstar, maybe her character is Fanney Khan and coincidentally Anil and Rajkummar share the same name? Or there is some cultural thing that I don’t know about.

    • Fanney Khan is a term used in the north for a jack of all trades kinda guy who overcomes hurdles with his swashbuckling style and his own brand of suave. This guy is usually cocky and his cockiness is noticed by people around them and it is a part of the phrase “zyada Fanney Khan mat bano!” (lit. Don’t try to act like a Fanney Khan!)

I guess there’s a legend around this character but I’ll have to ask mom about it

  1. It’s a official remake of a Belgian movie everyone’s famous.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everybody%27s_Famous!

A struggling father kidnaps rival of his daughter to make her famous.
He blackmail the manager to do his bidding and ultimately through circumstances all get their fame.

So anil is Aishwarya ‘s father and he is struggler.

Raj maybe the manager and another actress the famous pop star or they might change the story.
But intriguing to see anil as ash’ s dad.

      • Thanks! I’m gonna guess that Aish is the famous singer, and Rajkummar Rao might be the aspirant, with Anil Kapoor as his father or just friend. There’s also Anaitha Nair in the cast, who looks like what a teenage daughter would look like. So perhaps they are changing it around to make the daughter a smaller character and bring in Rajkummar Rao as another friend of the family, not her father, who kidnaps Aish.

There’s a lot of fun changes they could make while still keeping the basic idea of a pop star being kidnapped by friends of a more talented but not famous person. It seems like often with these official remakes, they change the plot even more than with the unofficial ones. Maybe because people know what it is based on and will be expecting it and they want to surprise the audience?

        • Yup like there’s a poster of anil kapoor driving a cab so he may kidnap while driving.
Also Aishwarya maybe the successful singer as she is too old to play daughter.
Rajkumar is Ash’s manager as he is introducing fanne Khan on the teaser.

  2. that is Mohammed Rafi next to Shammi Kapoor you dodo 😀 😀 😀 ..about the teaser..it looks way better as compared to Gold teaser. I’ve full faith in Anil Kapoor no matter how the movie or other actors turn out to be … he’ll be the good thing in the movie(of course others can be good too).

    • I knew I was supposed to recognize him!!!!!! Now I feel better.

I have faith in Anil too. And tentative faith in Rajkummar Rao. Aish, I have no faith in.

  3. Watching silver fox Anil is always a pleasure, and Ash looks beautiful, but besides this, this trailer didn’t convince me to spend my money. But who knows, maybe there will be other one with more story and I’ll love it?

    • Yeah, this wasn’t a very good teaser. The only had a few seconds, and they put too much in. I would have been happy with 20 seconds cut between smiling Aish and trumpet playing Anil, and then Rajkummar on the poster. No dialogue, nothing else fancy.
