Final Shahrukh Birthday Discussion Post: How Are You Celebrating?

Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to share a picture of my SRK Day cake once I finish it, but I don’t know when that will be.  In the meantime, let us share our plans for the Big Night!

Last year I had cake and JHMS by myself and it was really nice.  This year, opposite of that, SO MANY PEOPLE!!!!

Friend A goes to school near me and is fairly reliable about coming over, so I wasn’t surprised when she said “yes”.

Friend B was at my very first Indian movie night 10 years ago and has come off and on since depending on where she was living, she is bringing her boyfriend with her and might come a little late, both things make me nervous.

Friend C was also at that first Indian movie night and has an 8 month old baby, she has set her husband to babysitting and will come a little late too, depending on Baby and no doubt will also leave a little early.

Friend D will arrive very early and leave very early because she has to pick up her parents at the airport but wanted to at least stop by on this joyous occasion.

Friend F I haven’t seen in literally a year, but I pestered and pestered and hopefully guilted her into coming, still unclear.

Friend G is an Actual Desi Person and also an Actual Grown-Up with kids and stuff who is coming with her sister on time and I am a little worried about living up to their expectations.

So, I’m thinking either a truly terrible SRK movie that we can all ignore and/or make fun of (Baadshah, Guddu, like that).  Or else just a songs DVD.  Maybe an interview if people are able to focus a little bit.  But definitely not a “good” movie with everyone being in and out.

(I enjoy this movie, but I am not going to pretend it is worth laser focus and putting down cake plates)

Also, no dinner!  I was thinking about ordering pizza, but if half the people are late and half are early, I’m just gonna do cake and call it good enough.

Biggest problem, I promised rides home (since I live kind of far away by public transit).  Which means either I throw everyone out simultaneously, or I make some people stay much later than they want just to get a ride.  Oh well, I guess that is the price they pay for a ride.

  1. Two or three friends from my church (people I have hooked via my film series auction item), and a couple of folks from my trivia team. Cheese, crackers, pulled pork sliders, shrimp cocktail, devils food cake, and whatever my guests brings along.

We are watching RNBDJ because one of my friends asked for something light with lots of dancing.

    • Your decorations look AMAZING!!!!! Put mine to shame. If I am feeling very fancy, I might take the dog cover off the sofa.

  2. Eating Indian food and watching the zero trailer a few times on TV. I’ll get chicken tikka or tandoori chicken in his honor. Maybe I’ll watch a songs DVD after everyone else goes to bed.

How many of your lettered friends read your blog? And–have fun! Timing and transportation will all work out.

    • None of my friends read my blog! It would be too weird, they can just ask me stuff and talk to me in real life.

And your evening sounds really nice, I am a little jealous. Everyone just left, I have a sink full of dishes and feel a little sick because all I’ve eaten is sweets.

      • It was a lovely evening. I’m continuing the SRK love this morning, watching Jaby Koay and Acharya Kirk’s reaction to the Zero trailer, and bits of the trailer launch on youtube. Kat’s face looks more normal in the trailer launch.

My husband and kid kindly watched the zero trailer with me last night, and my husband’s reaction was very similar to yours. By the end of the trailer he was SO MAD at Bauua. 😆

        • Let us hope that the trailer is cute to imply a betrayal which doesn’t happen, or else it does happen and then he goes to the moon and dies. I believe in harsh punishments for unfaithful lovers.
