I tried really really hard to come up with good imaginative theme this week. And then I gave up and decided “Green! Like Christmas!” (disclaimer: green turns out to be a really tricky shade! Some of these photos looked green on my home computer and not on my work one. After spending some time squinting, I just gave up and accepted that color can be subjective)
As a special Christmas gift to you all, I am starting with SRK, and doing A LOT of SRK. In gray layered on green.
In green on green, and fewer buttons.
Pathani suit!
Pathani suit close-up!
Moving on, Salman!!!! Love the stripes.
This one has fewer stripes, but more biceps.
Oh Aamir!!!! This is just too much green, and too much of everything else.
This might be too little green? Very very faint. Or at least too little fabric, his biceps are begging to be free.
Maddy!!!! In a hoodie in his casual way.
While we are down south, let’s check out Sid! Southern Sid that is.
A nice conservative polo, very nice.
Oh Prabhas!!!! Green is nice on you, but you cannot dress yourself.
Costume designers can dress you though
Well, some costume designers.
I think this is better than all the other modern ones, but it’s still not perfect.
Ah, Nivin!!!!! Beard, green, casual jacket, perfect.
Smiling, he likes us in green!
Still green, still good!
And Tovino! In mustache
And in beard!
Ranveer can’t just take a normal green clothes photo like everyone else.
Although this is cute, both the pose and the outfit.
Ranbir! Always looks so much older in candids than onscreen.
See???
Ooo, intense! Looking right at us.
And now, the ladies! And to be fair, they each get only one photo and they each wear the same thing, green sari.
Starting with Madhuri, of course.
Anushka Shetty, in casual sexy option
Anushka Sharma, very not casual.
Dips, also not casual. And with very dramatic eyes.
Rekha, of course.
Oh dear. I know this is more of a Lehenga-choli than a sari, but I just had to include it. Oh dear.
And to end, Sush!!!! Looking magnificent, of course.
Okay, three easy questions!
Best over all photo male (not counting Shahrukh)
For me, Nivin! Looking so cute
Best photo female
Gotta give it to Sush
Best Shahrukh photo
I think I have to go with Pathani suit close-up
Best green SRK: second photo
Non SRK: Tovino in green t-shirt
Woman: Anushka Sharma and Sushmita

I think I like Tovino in mustache better than beard, but that’s just me.
I’d like Anushka Sharma, except once again it’s a high neck choli! This is now my obsession, seeing them everywhere and I HATE them.

I like high neck cholis but not everyone can wear them e.g Deepika’s one is beautiful and she has right body to wear it well.
And Tovino looks better without beard and mustache, like in Mayaanadhi or with little facial hair like in Theevandi, but this green t-shirt photo is cool, because he looks happy and relaxed.

Now you’ve got me thinking about high neck cholis. I really really hated it on Rani Mukherjee, but she has about the most opposite body style to Dips’ imaginable.

Favorite non-Shah Rukh male: Maddy!
Favorite Shah Rukh: ridiculous shirt in a shirt thing from Dilwale–but that color is nice on him and the jeans fit so nicely too.
Favorite female: tie between Rekha (dressy) and Anushka Shetty (every day)
Wish I had the know-how to do this to any of these lovely people. It amuses me in a really satisfying, childish way: https://twitter.com/McJesse/status/890735104758296576

I really wish I could look as good as Anushka every day in a sari. I love how she is wearing it, just sort of casual and falling off but still perfectly drapped and all.

Best overall non Shahrukh (male): Salman in the t-shirt. I am not a Salman fan but even I have to admit that he has a charming smile
Best photo (female): Madhuri because she wears a sari so effortlessly. I would have picked Deepika if she was wearing a different blouse.
Shahrukh: The first one
I am fairly sure Aishwarya is in a sari. It is just draped as a stylized version of the seedha palla style (also referred to as Gujrati style). The others are wearing the ulta palla style, which is more common and in some ways, more modern. My grandmothers would drape their sari the way Aishwatya’s is draped (without the boob show), so does my mother on ceremonial occasions. I draped it this way during my wedding and sometimes when I am wearing a sari with an especially beautiful aanchal that I would like to show off.

Aishwarya has the same drape as Madhuri in this song, just without the edge of the pallu tucked in at the waist. I actually find this drape easier because you don’t have to hold the pallu and it hides my bad pleating job in front 🙂
By the way, have you watched this movie (Mrityudand)? I would love to hear your thoughts on it, especially after having read your review of Lajja.

For some reason, it seems to have linked the wrong Madhuri song. I had a link to Keh Do Ek Baar Sajna from Mrityudand.

That’s it! That’s the happy song I watched and then was shocked when I learned what the movie was really about.

I haven’t seen Mrityudand. Although I have a song from it on one of my song DVDs. It looked all happy and cheerful, and then I looked up the movie and went “GAH!” when I read the plot.

I am so glad I am not the only one against Dips’ blouse! I really really hate the high collar, it makes the whole thing feel less elegant some how, you miss that line of the scoop contrasting with the drape.

Sushmita’s skirt is soooooo beautiful!

Yessssss! And she wears it so well! Sush is my go-to when I am trying to see if there is a difference between how a talented professional model wears clothes versus how just a regular celebrity does.
