Albie Dog Update (with photos!)

Have you been thinking “boy, Margaret gives high quality original analysis, but what I really want are cute dog photos”? If so, this post is the answer to your prayers!

Albie Dog is increasingly settling in to life with me. I had to leave him with my parents last weekend, which was a shock, but he has mostly bounced back. Comes to work with me every day and hides under the desk.

Works on his shoe collection, most recently adding these lovely pink flamingo ones I got at Goodwill (I had to take them back so I could put them on and go home)

He doesn’t chew on them, just likes to collect them and them forget about them. Which can cause issues when you are walking around the house going “what the heck happened to my other shoe?” Which was the situation my father found himself in while dogsitting. I love how Albie looks as puzzled by the problem of “how did that shoe get there?” as the humans.

Shoe collection is more of a work thing, at home Albie is busy with his constant vigilance on the ceiling fan. He will pretend to relax, just to lull it into a false sense of security, but always keep one eye aimed in that direction.

And after a hard day of shoe collection, ceiling fan observation, and general dogginess, there is the lovely activity of finding a sunny spot and going to sleep

    • It’s the tie that will never die! It’s been part of 4 baths, 2 dog fights, innumerable dog wrestling matches, and the wear and tear of daily life, and it is as perky as it was the day he first put it on. At this point I kind of want to just leave it and see how long it lasts.

  1. Back in 2008, we moved from CA to TX and got a puppy. Scruffy chewed on every single LEFT shoe I owned. Every one. Just the left. Turned out I had some weird benign (but needed-to-be-addressed) bone tumor in that foot. WTF?? He sat next to me on the sofa for a whole year after its removal and bone graft. Such a good bean! Give Albie some love from me and tell him to keep you searching for that other shoe.
