Huh! Two teaser trailers today and I’m not sure what to think about either of them. Luckily, I have you all to help me decide what to think!
After the character teaser for Mufasa/Shahrukh, now we have one for Aryan/Simmba. And yes, he sounds distractingly like his father. Which is kind of the point, the film will feel that much richer because the father-son voices sound like an actual father and son.
And Aryan does okay! Although this is also the simplest kind of dialogue, he’s just doing a monologue, he doesn’t have to react or interact with any other actors, or do any emotion beyond “steadily stating what I want to say”. Mostly I really liked Karan’s cute tweet about it. I know Karan puts on a show in his public persona a lot of the time, but this felt honest:
Of course, then I accidentally read the reactions and now I am depressed. Why is Karan even on twitter? He only gets hate!
And then there is the Saand Ki Aankh teaser! Which looks like a fun movie, maybe some stuff about the women’s difficult lives before they became sharp shooters, and definitely the image of these farm woman shooting massive guns is great. But at least in the teaser, they are almost all in their older years. I guess it’s like the Simba teaser, it doesn’t mean that much about the rest of the film, it could be 90% youthful and the teaser is just trying to bring you in with the old lady hook. But if it turns out to be almost all old lady stories, I will wish they had cast actual old ladies to play the role.
