To make a true judgement, you would need to listen to/watch every single SRK song, then categorize them based on singer, than decide which singer over all across all his songs is the best. I’m not doing that, and you shouldn’t have to either. Limited to these songs in particular, which is your favorite playback singer among them? The best match for SRK?

Okay, here is my answer:
Personally, I like Arijit’s voice best. But I don’t think it is as perfect a fit with Shahrukh onscreen somehow.
Udit has the best songs, just as songs, “Ae Ajnabi” and “Jaadu Teri Nazar” and so on.
But purely in terms of a melding of actor and voice, I think Sonu is where it is at. When he sings it really makes me believe Shahrukh is singing.

I agree Arijit doesn’t fit as well. Sonu is very very good, and I think Shah Rukh said at some point he likes him the best as a playback singer for himself. But for me it is Udit all the way, something about his voice sounds to me like a voice that could come from Shah Rukh’s chest, throat, and face, in a way that others don’t match. You can ask joyomama, I just about died when Udit came on stage to sing Ae Ajnabi at the AR Rahman concert last year.

Udit does have the “Jaadu Tere Nazar” moment, which means his voice matches SRK so well that we believe it is SRK singing even when we can’t see his face.

It’s on my “best of SRK” cds too. Which I used to think was funny, and then I had that moment of “wait, why are ANY of these songs together on a cd? There is nothing about the music that makes them a related collection!”

Udit is the only one whose voice allows me to believe it is SRK singing. Not that I don’t enjoy the other songs, as songs and performances they are great, but I never fall into the belief that SRK is actually singing.

I second Udit Narayan. Yet, maybe one should also consider that his voice has changed. So, for many songs, it is Sonu, for me, too.

Sonu Nigam is my favorite Indian singer, and I think the only one I’m able to recognize instantly, but for SRK I’m team Udit. I also agree with Claudia about Sukhwinder Singh. I would put him right after Udit. And Sonu is number 3.

I considered adding Sukhwinder but I couldn’t think of a 5th person and then it just got complicated with the number of songs. And I love Arijit.

For a song that requires a display of SRK’s boundless energy, Sukhwinder.
For a song that requires SRK to be a charmer and a romantic who makes a ~ with his eyebrow as he WORKS those eyes of his, Sonu. Also for songs where he’s “the bigger person”.

Sukhwinder is not always the best ‘match’, but his intensity and energy fits a lot of circumstances, so I like him also (may be especially) giving his voice to songs, ShahRukh has not to mouth.

I love Arjit’s songs but he is a little high pitched for ShahRukh at this age. For me Udit is ShahRukh at that particular age. It sounds like he is smiling and full of youthful enthusiasm.
The other two both totally work too but for me Udit is ShahRukh.
Now though I think he should have someone who’s voice is a little deeper as his own voice has become deeper and huskier, as it does with age.
