Let’s see if I can do this! The first few are going to be easy, but reaching 12 is going to mean a lot of digging.
- In Chennai Express, when he is briefly arrested, he says “I am not a terrorist”, a reference to My Name is Khan.
- In Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, his real life son Aryan plays his character as a young child.
- In Duplicate, Kajol makes a cameo as her DDLJ character and sneers at the idea of talking to Duplicate-SRK before walking off calling for “Raj”.
- In Heyy Babbyy his character’s father is Anupam and he talks about a past romance with “Simran”
- In Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham in the middle of “Suraj Hua Madham” there is an echo of “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”
- In Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Shahrukh shows up at the interval along with Little Anjali claiming that Rani is his dead wife.
- In Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham the small boy counting stars from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai makes an appearance in the “Yeh Ladki Hai Allah” song.
- In Chalte Chalte, Jonny Lever constantly sings “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayange” and Shahrukh tries to get him to sing something new.
- In Baadshah Shahrukh fakes an “eye transplant”, a reference to his terrible movie Guddu.
- In “Om Shanti Om” Shahrukh and Kajol do their Kuch Kuch Hota Hai hand greeting.
- In Dilwale at the end, Shahrukh says his “Senorita” line from DDLJ to Kajol
- In Chennai Express, the DDLJ music plays when Shahrukh pulls Deepika onto the train.
I am sure there are others I am missing! Remind me of them, let’s see if we can make this a baker’s dozen.
What fun! 🙂
Happy New Year – Deepika gives a 7 minute version of the Sattar Minute speech.
Ra-1 – the dream sequence at the beginning has a reference to KKHH
Billu – the wall of ShahRukh film posters. Same in Om Shanti Om.
Fan – Gaurav reenacts ShahRukh films at the carnival.

I forgot about the Sattar Minute scene! I love that scene, with half the cast being overcome with emotion, and the other half going “wait, isn’t this familiar?”

SRK also says “You must have heard the name before” in Chennai Express when he’s freaking out about the fight with Tangu. His singing conversations with Deepika are full of songs from other SRK movies, but that’s probably obvious.
AND I just remembered in HNY “Aakhon Main Teri” from Om Shanti Om plays when Deepika comes in that blue outfit.

Oooo! Good catch on “Aankhon Main Tera”!!!!!

Nothing to add, except that I came here to see if the DDLJ reference in Chalte Chalte was here. That was my very first Hindi film Easter egg—DDLJ was like my third film and CC was around my seventh—and I was extremely proud of myself for catching it.

I love that one! Because it works so great as a meta commentary on Shahrukh wanting to do more mature love stories and move on, and also within the film for explaining Jonny being trapped in the past.

I like it very much that the “Easter-eggs” serve different purposes. Sometimes it is like a parody, sometime like a wink, sometimes with a proper meaning inside the movie’s story, sometimes a reference to ShahRukh’s star persona, sometimes to link the meaning in the current movie to the one the Easter-egg refers to.
My knowledge (and my memory) concerning the Hindi filmindustry isn’t enough to always get the Easter-eggs in other (non SRK) movies except those refering to ShahRukh movies, but I would like to know if there is another star with a stream of movies where in the own movies are often references to the own work.

Salman and Amitabh also do long strings of references. I think you have to have that kind of career and fame to be able to do it. Aamir, not so much, he’s too dignified.

So ShahRukh does it for him in Chennai Express with ‘Oil is well’ on the fishing trawler, an obvious reference to 3 Idiots.

Also, in KHNH they spoof the whole Chale Chalo song from Lagaan and wasn’t there also some Dil Chahta Hai hairstyle references thrown in?

True! But those are not SRK specific Easter eggs. That is, Easter eggs referring back to his own filmography.

Oh I know, I was responding to him referencing Aamir in his films.

Right! Sorry, Totally true, Shahrukh is in there bringing Aamir down to the same level of us humans.

In the beginning of JHMS where he guides the tourists through the Netherlands, Harry makes a joke about Deepika Padukone‘s phone number which is a reference to SRK‘s 2014 appearance in Barely Speaking with Arnub where the latter asks SRK for Deepika‘s phone number.

In KANK he eats ice-cream and throws it away when Rani’s falls . Didn’t he throw away his cone with ice cream in KabhiHaanKabhiNaa too?

Has this been mentioned?
In KANK at the beginning the marching band plays songs from K3G, like Bole Chudiyan and so on.
