Discussion Post: Rank Actors, Sid M. or Arjun K. or Ranbir?

You know how during SRK month I have a warning that we are in a place of SRK love not hate? I think I have to put an opposite warning on this post, we are in a place of Ranbir hate not like/love/or tolerate.

Okay, Karan style, we are going to rank 3 not very good young actors!

In terms of work ethic

I’m gonna go Sid M. first, he works regularly and seems to try in every part

Arjun K. next, he barely tries, but at least he doesn’t delay films by not showing up

Ranbir. His performances are better than Arjun’s, but he doesn’t bother to perform more than once a week.

In terms of talent

Arjun K. I think those performances where he bothered to act show that he has more raw talent than the other two

Sid M. has little native talent, but he is growing and growing in abilities as time goes on until he almost reaches Arjun K. levels

Ranbir. I am assuming if you have read this far in this post, you will agree with this choice. A decent mimic, but not much else.

In terms of Attractiveness

Sid M. WHO WILL DARE CHALLENGE ME????

Arjun K. Those powerful eyes! That sweet smile!

Ranbir. His face just looks weird.

Okay, give me your own rankings!!!!!

  1. I know we all hate Ranbir but he is not a worse actor than Arjun and Sid. He’s a whiny little bitch but charismatic on screen. I was truly surprised the first time I saw him in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, he had that It factor that made you want to watch him and he can really dance and I wasn’t expecting it at all because his off screen persona is so awful and unappealing.

    • Okay, what are your acting rankings? If Ranbir is on top, Sid or Arjun next? What about attractiveness? I could (maybe) agree with Ranbir having a charisma that puts him over the top, but just face-wise, surely Sid is better?

  2. Oh, for attractiveness, Sid hands down in my opinion. His acting is good, not great but good. I love looking at him and he was very credible in Ittefaq. Arjun is okay looking and okay actor. He doesn’t make me cringe, but he doesn’t do anything either. Now, that you told me what an amazing person he is, I’ll have to like him a bit. As to Ranbir, I just don’t get it. I find him the same in all his films. I don’t mind watching him and he does get lost in the character mostly but there is no charisma or heat off the screen. I HATE that Alia is with him. I don’t find him good looking at all.

    • So, you would put Ranbir first at acting, but last at looks? And Sid M. first at looks? But what order would you put Sid and ARjun in for acting after Ranbir?

  3. We all know I am going to pick Ranbir last in all categories because he is lazy, he plays the same man-child role in every film, and he looks stupid. Literally, the only movie I liked him in was Rocket Singh. So, to make things harder for me, I am adding another not very good young actor to my rankings: Aditya Roy Kapur.

    Work Ethic
Sid (I think he would work even more if he was given more roles. You can tell this career means a lot to him and he is working very hard on improving
Arjun (He will try to reach out to directors for a role, but once he gets the role he tries somewhat… maybe… meh if the mood suits him)
ARK: (He has admitted that he is lazy and roles just kind of fall into his lap. Once he has them though, then he will work hard for the role)

    Talent
ARK: I really think he has more innate talent than Sid and Arjun and someone who creates wonderful chemistry with every female costar. It may stem from his la-di-da attitute a bit, but he always seems natural in all his roles.
    Sid/Arjun tie.

    Attractiveness
Sid (but ONLY if he is clean shaven and without stringy gross hair. When Sid tries to look good…he looks GOOOOD!)
ARK (this is a very very close second if Sid brings his A-game. ARK generally always looks good without having to try)
Arjun (like I said previously, don’t want to have sex with him but would love a good Netflix and snugglefest)

    • Ooo, ARK is a good add!

I agree that he makes attractiveness very VERY close. ARK in glasses and traditional clothing in Kalank is ahead of Sid with the long depression hair in Maarjaavaan. On the other hand, Sid in Hasee To Phasee, A Gentleman, Ittefaq, and so on, just has no competition.

Also agree about talent, I still can’t get over how good ARK was in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. I think he forced Ranbir to up his game a little bit to get noticed, just like Kalki did for Deepika.

I am very sad to learn ARK has no work ethic! Although that also explains some stuff, he seems to have all these “almost a star” moments, and then it just falls apart. If he doesn’t have the drive to capitalize on that, it explains why it never works out.

  4. I think Arjun is the least attractive. He does have a sweet smile, but I don’t find his eyes at all powerful. Ranbir for all his whininess, has a powerful whine in his eyes. But I do actually dislike Ranbir’s smile. (I have a surprising hatred of Akshay Kumar’s smile.) So I guess if they are all smiling Ranbir is the least attractive. But unlike Ranveer, none of these actors are particularly smiley, thus most of the time, when it comes to attractiveness, I would put Arjun at the bottom.

  5. Mpollak711 here (when I’m on my laptop it keeps saying anonymous) Sid is the best looking, ARK is a close second and both are equally good/not great actors with lots of potential. Ranbir is not good looking and while he has given some good performances, he is no where near as good as he thinks he is or the industry treats him as…

    • You know what strikes me from your comment, is that Sid and ARK have gotten noticably distinctly better over the course their career. Film to film there is a marked improvement. But Ranbir has just kind of stayed the same. He is what he was at the start.

  6. Work Ethic – I don’t follow the gossip much, but I think I have to agree with your ranking. Sid definitely seems the most dedicated to his craft, even if it’s not actually getting anywhere. Arjun really tries, but he definitely looks the same every time. Ranbir? Honestly this leads me to the next one.

Talent – As a person, I don’t like Ranbir that much. And I know the general consensus is that people who read this blog don’t like him. But of the three, I do actually think he’s the most talented, followed by Sid and then Arjun last. It obviously does not, and cannot excuse his actions as a real human being, and I despise ADHM with a burning passion, but he has the most natural acting talent of the three (which unfortunately, along with his privilege, might lead him to act the way he does). As much as Sid and Arjun try, they just can’t match up.

Attractiveness – Anyone who doesn’t think Sid is attractive is wrong. Definitely agree with your ranking, Sid blowing away the competition by miles.

    • I will allow you to find Ranbir talented! But I am inspired, just as a movie recommendation, to tell you that you should check out 2 States if you haven’t seen it yet. It’s fun, it’s light, and it’s got a good Arjun performance. His “good” performances are almost like a different person than his “bad” ones, it’s very weird. He just doesn’t seem to try the rest of the time.

Thank goodness you are not blind and can see that Sid is the most attractive of the three!
