TGIF: For St. Nicholas Day, Let’s Look at Shoes!

I wish Indian films and Indian celebrities focused more on shoes. They can be such delightful works of art, but unfortunately most of the time they seem like just after thoughts to outfits.

I’m gonna start with Sonam, because her fashion is always worth discussing!

Moving on to her cousin and fellow fashionista, Ranveer!

And of course Shahrukh, with the handmade shoes given to him by a fan who is a cobbler.

Finally, let’s look at Karan!

And finally, Margaret’s Shoes That She Painted Because They Were Boring

Okay, here’s your challenge!

You get one full collection of shoes from one of these people, BUT! You actually have to wear each shoe you own, not just admire them. Which do you pick?

Obviously Karan’s. I would wear the heck out of all of those! Sparking and funky and no heels, it is all I want in a shoe

I would wear the heck out of these on a rainy day

You get to pick one shoe of all of these to wear every single day, which one?

Probably Shahrukh’s handmade ones. Except if they were handmade for me.

Don’t they look comfy? With the way the straps would adjust on your foot and the air flow built in?

You get to pick one shoe of all of these to wear for a special occasion, which one?

Oooo, this is the fun question! I think I’m taking Ranveer’s winged sneakers. Imagine these, with a long formal gown, for when I get my National Award as Best Film Writer. Perfect, right?

And finally, you get to pick one pair of shoes to throw in a ceremonial fire and destroy.

Brown leather shoes with tassels and without socks are STUPID and UGLY and I HATE THEM!!!!

  1. You shouldn’t mix Sonam’s clothes/shoes with Karan’s! Or at least put some warning next time please. I was admiring all those beautiful heels and sudenly I saw those horrendous things Karan wears. LOL it was worse than when I saw Rishi Kapoor’s photo in the post about cuddly men 😉

    • I love Karan’s shoes!!!!! They are so SPARKLY!!!!!!

So, you would go for Sonam’s collection? Which ones would be your special occasion choice for when you win your National Award or FilmFare?

      • I felt in love wit those butterfly ankle boots, but for filmfare – Versace.
For everyday use – Ranveer’s black Bareskin shoes. Yes, it’s male type but looks comfy.
Throw in a ceremonial fire – all Karan’s wardrobe (maybe except this tuxedo and the shoes he is wearing and white-red-blue sneakers)

        • I am fascinated by the butterfly boots, because the optical illusion is so good. There must be some strong structural backing for the butterfly, but it really does look like a little butterfly wing lightly floating on the shoe.

I think the tuxedo Karan shoes are my least favorite. I just do not approve of tassels. But we can share the sneakers, those look comfortable.

  2. Okay, for collection, Karan’s; for forever shoes the silver boots, for a special occasion the sparkly black boots, and to destroy those yellow things.

You’d think I’d like Ranveer’s more, but I cannot wear loafers.

    • The yellow things are the neon sneakers? I love the neon sneakers! Give them to me!!!!

Would you wear the sparkly black boots with formal men’s wear? Because I feel like then people wouldn’t get to see the sparkly bootness. Although I suppose you could sit in the audience in such a way that your pants leg would ride up and display. Or you could wear short pants, but then you would be Dead to Me.

  3. I have to say I love the way Sonam dresses. Those shoes are stunning and I couldn’t wear them even when I was young!! Karan, that’s a whole other ball game as they say… The only thing that prevents me from loathing those outfits is that it is an outward expression of something he cannot say out loud, so I’m okay with it. –mpollak711

    • I was thinking that maybe I should have a category for “shoes you would buy just to put on a shelf and stare at them”. Sonam’s butterfly boots would definitely be my pick.

  4. I want Karan’s shoes. SRK’s handmade shoes look comfy, but ugly. I dislike the concept of high heels. I like Ranveer’s shoes, I would take those third. My second choice would be hand-painted shoes by Margaret.

    • Oh good, someone else who likes Karan’s shoes! And he has so many of them, we can split the collection down the middle and share.

  5. I want to be the kind of person who could wear Sonam’s shoes but I just can’t do it. I hate being uncomfortable. I have to go with Ranveer’s eccentricity over Karan’s. I could handle a few of Ks shoes but not all of them. Just too blingy for me!

    • Somehow, I could more easily wear Karan’s sparkly shoes, than Ranveer’s tassels. I just can’t with tassels.

When you win your FilmFare award, what one pair will you wear? At least long enough for the photographers to take a picture.

    • I found one translation of “Shammash” as “slave” or “servant”, which I hope is accurate, because I feel it also fits the mood of the image.

      • Wondering out loud for a friend…is keeping that pic by ones beside an automatic affront to one’s spouse? Or do we think it’s more on a case by case basis?

      • I could read Shamash as slave or servant in the sense that it serves the other candles. But I haven’t actually heard that description or definition of the word before. I’ll take it though! And speaking of shoes I really like the shoes he’s wearing in that picture. Stylish but still very manly.

  6. For my Filmfare best producer award I want Sonam’s Versace Medusa heels. I think I’d look powerful and sexy for one minute. Sorry but into the ceremonial fire with Karan’s gold oxfords with the studs. Bleach. JMHO. 🙂

  7. I don’t know what picture you’re talking about but would the friend be okay for her husband to keep a photo of some starlet on his side of the bed? Sounds like a no-no to me, but I guess every couple has their own expectations.
