Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me the Last Monday of 2019?

Happy Monday! I work today, and then I work tomorrow and leave early, and then I sit at home and eat pancakes and tweet on Wednesday, and then I work Thursday, and then I work my usual half day on Friday. SWEET! This is a good week!

This is where you get to ask me anything you want all week, if you see a movie and want to know more about an actor, if you see a blind gossip item and want more juicy backstory, anything at all. Just keep swinging back to this post and bring it up here.

Now, question for you! First a hard one, picking up on my question from Saturday, What categories do you want to see for my “Best of 2019” awards? No boring stuff, think stuff like “most groundbreaking female character not in a woman’s issues picture”.

Next an easy one, what are you doing for New Years Eve?

(obviously New Years Day you will be tweeting “War” with me)

And finally a random one, I have been binging Disney Channel original shows and they are SO GOOD. Right? I’m not the only one watching “Raven’s Home” going “hey, it’s a show with an ethnically diverse cast, a non-traditional family, and a bunch of kids who don’t fit in traditional gender categories, that gives lessons like ‘sometimes you lose the big contest even though you deserved to win, and that’s okay because you tried your best'”? So two part question, does anyone else watch Disney Channel original shows and if so, which is your favorite?

Really, how awesome is this girl? And she’s the lead in her series! Because 90% of Disney Channel original serieses have female leads! And almost 100% have non-white leads!

  1. Grew up with Disney Channel shows so here are some recommendations of they are on the platform where you watch them:
The Suite Life of Zack and Cody (honestly one of the funniest shows ever, a classic) and its sequel show Suite Life on Deck, Kim Possible (if you like animated shows), Lizzie McGuire, That’s So Raven, Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World (really good, but was cancelled too early and fans are still bitter about it), Gravity Falls and Ducktales.

And some Disney Channel movies I love:
The whole High School Musical trilogy, Invisible Sister, Cadet Kelly, Lizzie McGuire Movie, Twitches and Twitches Too and The Cheetah Girls movie trilogy (the third one has India and “Bollywood” as a theme, take it or leave it).

And I’ll be spending my New Years at home partying by myself with my parents. Doing the traditional melting of tin that is here in Finland where we try to predict the future by the shape the tin takes by itself or against light to see what kind of a shadow it makes, it’s a very old tradition here. 🙂

    • Oh oh! You have to check out Raven’s Home! It’s a sequel with Raven and Chelsea both single parents, living and raising their kids together. It may be my favorite of the new shows, and not just because it is set in Chicago.

I also loved the HSM movies, and my sister and I in our twenties went to see High School Musical: The Musical performed live in downtown Chicago. Highly recommend it. Also, thank goodness I am not the only Disney Channel viewer here!

I like your New Years tradition and I kind of want to try it, except probably not a good idea for someone who has never done it before. I have visions of myself burning down my apartment.

the past few years I have alternated between partying with my parents and with friends, this year I will really be alone-alone, but it might be kind of nice.

      • The whole burning tin is an easy process once you get to it. Set a frying pan and put the fire underneath, put the piece of tin (here it’s an horseshoe shape) and let it melt completely. Have a bucket full of cold water on the floor and carefully and quickly dip it in to the water and let it wait a moment before picking it up. It should be cool when you pick it and voila!

I saw the High School Musical the musical version in Finland a couple of years ago done by some young actors. It was fun, but not too remarkable I suspect since I can’t remember much about it.

          • Dip in the water as soon as it melts.

And I asked my Dad to confirm this and he said there’s no tin this year in Finland, it’s outlawed, because of its poisonous qualities or something so no tin dipping this year for us after all and they don’t sell it in the shops anymore 😦

          • Boo! You can always try melting candle wax instead, but it won’t be the same.

    • We told you! We told you not to watch interviews!

But a nice guy, right? Like, you would trust him to carpool your kids to school, or pick up cupcakes for the school bake sale. Just, you don’t really want to get stuck talking with him that much.
