I did it! I watched two ridiculous campy cult classic Halloween movies that I have never seen before somehow. Very Proud.Continue reading
Huh! This actually felt like a TV movie! Somehow gentler, cheaper, slower, more friendly to commercial breaks and distracted viewing. But very pleasant for what it was, more pleasant and easy than some of the Movie-Movie versions.Continue reading
I am trying to be objective and “isn’t this interesting?”, but really I’m just going “hahahahaha! I was RIGHT! I thought this thing was true and now here is a study that says it IS!”Continue reading
These are not the greatest musicals of all time, or even my favorites. These are more just really interesting ones I think more people should see and which aren’t that famous. And be warned, it is a loooooooooooooooong list. And there’s lots more I am going to remember and wish I could add, but won’t, because it already too long.Continue reading
All men! Because we all know that a) Cartoon people are very close to being genderless; and b) female cartoons are super boring.Continue reading
I’m excited! Disney is now in India, for realsies, and I love the classic Disney fairy tales for their strong central female characters. Time for an imaginary rewrite!Continue reading
Happy Wednesday! Halfway through my work-at-home week. I still don’t have my home office in my parents’ guest room fully set up, and it is making the week feel longer. Or maybe shorter? I will have to compare next week when it IS set up.Continue reading
Happy Monday! I work today, and then I work tomorrow and leave early, and then I sit at home and eat pancakes and tweet on Wednesday, and then I work Thursday, and then I work my usual half day on Friday. SWEET! This is a good week!Continue reading
Okay, the Aamir story has finally reached the point that I feel like it is worth reporting instead of ignoring. And the point when I am hitting myself in the forehead and going “well, duh! Why didn’t I put that together before?”
We’ve had a lot of discussion on the Jagga Jasoos post about where things went wrong. And I think part of the reason we’ve been going around and around is because the production of an Indian film is so very different from the process for a Hollywood film. And, in addition, the Indian film producers waste a lot less time talking to reporters than Hollywood producers, so it isn’t as easy to get a sense of what really goes into their process. So I am going to lay it out for you here!
Poor Aamir. I don’t know if it is even possible for him to surprise us at the box office at this point. Once you reach the limit of how many tickets are even available to sell, and they all sell-out, well then there is no where else to go! I saw Dangal! I am getting no sleep tonight! Oh well, I’m sure I will be able to sleep sometime. Monday? Anyway, I wanted to get a quick NO SPOILERS review up while it was fresh in my mind.
So, this is the movie that everyone is like “The best movie of all time!”? So far, I’m not seeing it. A good movie certainly, probably a very good movie. I’m just not having my mind BLOWN by what I am seeing.
There is a really funky little human interest story, and a really important industry story. But most of all, a really NO WAY!!!!! story about Anupam Kher.
Yay! There is a real poster for Dangal! Not just that strange Aamir coming out of the dirt thing we got months ago. And it looks strangely Disney. Oh, and also a trailer for Akira, which does NOT look Disney.
