2019 Awards: Best Love Song of 2019

Forget best song, that’s too hard. I’ll limit it down to just “best love song”. It was kind of an all over year for love songs, nothing immediately leaps out at me, which makes this a fun post!

“Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga”

“Train Song” Gully Boy

“Kalank”

“Fakira” Student of the Year 2

“Tu Mila To Haina” De De Pyaar De

“Chashni” Bharat

“Jugraafiya” Super 30

“Baby Won’t You Tell Me” Saaho

“Tu Hi Yaar Mera” Pati Patni Aur Woh

“Habibi Ki Nain” Dabangg 3

So? What’s your vote? Or is it something I didn’t even include? (I will accept arguments for “Jai Jai Shivshankar”)

    • Thank you! I knew there had to be beautiful options I didn’t know about.

      • I was passionate about this soundtrack when the movie came out. I feel like this is the kind of music that we used to turn to Bollywood film for – interesting melodies, flexible singing, lyrics that spoke to your heart. Add to that the modern updates – arrangements that utilize more variety of instruments yet allow each instrument to shine, and vocal styling with more artistry and color – yields songs that point the way forward to how BW can make original love songs (or slow songs) in its own wheelhouse yet in a completely suitable for modern tastes.

        • I hope you are right! If so, we should start seeing that in the soundtracks coming up this year influenced by Gully Boy.

  1. There are some very nice songs, and that Super 30 song is adorable, but the Gully Boy soundtrack is so good and so original that it’s hard to compete.

    • Yeah, the only reason I wouldn’t pick Gully Boy is that it doesn’t really have a true “love song”. Train song comes close, it starts off with Alia and Ranveer seeing each other and the lyrics are about love and stuff, but it’s still not really a “love song”.

    • It’s so delightful! That whole soundtrack is great, but Train Song is special.
