This is a nice fun subjective post. This isn’t everyone’s song of the year, just YOUR song of the year. And then based on the responses, we can try to come up with a DCIB community majority Song of the Year.
Okay, gonna through some out there to get us started!
“Apna Time Aayega” Gully Boy
“Good Morning” Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga
“Jai Jai Shiv Shankar” from War
Or something else I didn’t list?
The first thing I thought of when I saw the title was Ghungroo. I think that’s the one Hindi song that I can definitely say was my favorite of the year.

Huh, I would not have thought of that! I think because I am so video focused and the video for it was just not that great.
Is there a different choice for non-Hindi song of the year for you?

When it comes to Telugu, I don’t think I can name only one song. I think my favorite albums of the year are Dear Comrade, Majili, Gang Leader, Jersey, and Brochevarevarura. If I had to pick one singular song (including video) then I really enjoyed Kopamgaa Kopamgaa from Mr. Majnu.

That is an awesome video.

The song came out last January and I’ve basically been listening to it all year. I haven’t seen the movie but I’ve heard that it’s cute.

First Class from Kalank. Hands down. That was the only song I listened to for a solid two weeks after it came out. I listened to it so much, it was my most played song on Spotify for the entire year. It came up on shuffle yesterday, the first time I’d listened to it in a while, and I almost jumped out of my seat, I was so excited. It will be an incredibly long time before I get sick of that song.

From my experience, I can tell you that ten years from now that song will pop up and you will suddenly be brought back to that point in time. It happens to me all the time. Chammak Challo, Mental Menadhil, Kal Ho Na Ho, the songs I listened to sooooooo much.

I’m always behind when it comes to music. Only few favourites from 2019:
Malaal – Udhal Ho
Malaal – Aila Re
Khandaani Shafakhana – Koka
Newest favourite Marjaavan – Tum Hi Ana

I forgot the best song: Thodi Jagah from Marjaavan
Btw seeing those songs together made me realize they are all from flop movies.

I can’t decide if this is because flop movies pay more attention to good songs (because they know they don’t have anything else going for them) or because you just really like flop movies.

I love flop movies! But yes, many of them must have good songs (or song) to get some publicity e.g Koka

I’ve probably asked you this before but should I watch Malaal?

angie’s gonna say “yes”, I’m gonna say “no” from my side just because I suspect a sad ending and I hate romances with sad endings. But perhaps you, like Angie, disagree with that.

I don’t mind a sad ending if everyone’s hot and they have nice hair and stuff.

Doesn’t that make it sadder? All that nice hair going into the ground forever and ever?

Well, you have to be practical. The movie is going to end anyway, so I won’t be seeing it.

So you must watch! Meezaan has fabulous hair and is hot af. He takes off his shirt often, wears nice pants and can dance. Sharmin Segal is beautiful and has great curly hair. The music is good.
I won’t say it’s the best movie ever made, but it’s definitely well made and deserves some love.

I know the movie sucked and the video was just okay but I’d vote for Ghar More Paradesiya from Kalank. It’s such a danceable tune, blending classical Indian notes with Bollywood. Loved it!

That was a good soundtrack! Too bad the movie was such a disappointment

Ghungroo, for sure. I also liked the title theme from Ek Ladki.
