DCIB Community Anti-Isolation Plan! We are gonna totally hang out online!

I’m going out of town this weekend, weird timing I know but it’s a family thing that is worth doing no matter what. But starting next week, all home all the time and I am going to be going INSANE! As are many of you. So, I have a plan! Which will be constantly evolving as I think of other things, and as you suggest brilliant ideas. Really, suggest on this post, I’m open to anything. Heck, if we can figure out group video calling, I’m down for that.

Made in Heaven Reviews Reposts

I’ll repost one review a day, starting on Monday. So you all can watch along together at the rate of one episode a day, and share comments. If it goes well, I’ll try to think of another streaming show we can do like that. Zindagi Gulzar Hai? Humsafar? Maybe I finally watch Family Man even though spy stuff stresses me out?

We need a time and a film, but I’m thinking many of you will be available, and interested in some sort of virtual get together. I know I am, because otherwise I will be going INSANE. Suggested time, every Friday afternoon? I get off work early and it shouldn’t be too late for those of you in other time zones.

I finally watch Fashion?

I still technically have a youtube channel, even though I haven’t used it for ages. Videos will let you all see my smiling face, and will give me a reason to get dressed in the morning (literally).

Many Many Discussion Posts

Any topic you can think of! I love talking with you all about silly brainless things and you are better than me at coming up with good ones.

Guys we would hate in real life and yet find ourselves attracted to as celebrities?

So, let’s get together (yeah yeah yeah), and make this community even more of a community!

  1. Another idea I saw somewhere and liked is playing games together online. Maybe one giant antakshari via comments? A jointly written fanfic in a Google Doc?

  2. Sorry for the super stupid question, but is there a wordpress chat-along/interactive feature that can function similar to the tweet along? Maybe it’s just me, but I am not a huge fan of twitter but would definitely participate in some sort of a group chat during a movie.

    • Thank you, great point! I also hate twitter, but it hadn’t occurred to me that we could gather outside of it. Sure! I’ll explore!

      • I don’t know if Youtube still has this, but it used to have a feature where you could set up a special link to watch something on Youtube with a group, and all in the group could chat while watching the video together. I tried it once with a couple of far-flung (as in two other continents) friends to watch HAHK. The only problem was our discussion was so lively that we kept pausing the video while we thrashed out each point, so ultimately we only got through about one hour of the movie. 🙂

          • Ooh, I Moimeme’s idea! This makes me sound SO OLD but what happened to old school AOL style chat rooms?! Something simple that doesn’t require me to learn Twitter.

          • Once I get home and have time, I may use the wordpress help chatline and see if they can give me step by step for ANY of this. Sounds like it’s all plugin based (blech), not just the simple already existing tools.

  3. I’ll take anything. Idk if I ever said this in any posts, but I’m a public school teacher, and I just got the announcement today that schools are closing and we’re moving to online learning on Tuesday “until further notice”. I need time to prepare everything, but I basically have no reason to leave my house now, and I’ll be going stir crazy as well as stressing out over how online learning even works. I can’t think of any ideas right now, because today was insanely overwhelming and my brain is all fuzzy, but I’m open to anything.

    • I love Humsafar! But I will consider Family Man for week after next.

      • I like the overall narrative of Humsafar, it’s just that so little happens per episode, I think I kept forwarding a lot. I may have missed it, but I didn’t even realize they had consummated their marriage! I was like, how can you still be so shy around each other even after having slept together? Anyway, I can always watch more of Fawad and Mahira but prefer ZGH.

        • No one can figure out when they consummated their marriage! We had a whole discussion about it here already.

I don’t know if you’ve seen my Humsafar posts, but I think I broke it down into 3 episodes at a time or something like that. you are right, it is just too slow to do episode by episode.

  4. All great ideas. I keep seeing on Facebook that you can watch a video and invite friends…maybe we do that in a private group? I’m also up for MIH episode by episode watch/discuss and I love Sister’s group fanfic idea! You add a paragraph but can’t change anything that’s already there…

    • Unfortunately it looks like WordPress (so far from what I have found) is really limited in it’s functions. We may have to cobble all this together through comments sections.

Which we can totally do! I write the first paragraph of a fanfic, and then the comments take it away.
