I am SO HAPPY with this plan!!!! I totally forgot Mubarakan was a Christmas movie until I looked at it for the headers. It is Christmas, it is happiness, it is Anil Kapoor and Ratna Pathak, it is All Good. Also, this is my early Christmas present to Angie, enjoy!
Mubarakan! It released the same week as some dreadful serious historical thingy. My friend Dina and I were debating up until the last minute if we could watch Mubarakan or were obligated to watch the “good” movie. Obviously, we opted for Mubarakan. And there was that extra tinge of joy to the experience knowing that we were NOT watching a movie about political malfeasance and violence.
You ready for a GREAT plot??? Arjun Kapoor plays a double role, a sweet Indian cousin and a modern London cousin. And they both have secret girlfriends. And their family (Ratna Pathak etc.) is trying to get them married. But they end up ENGAGED TO THE WRONG GIRLFRIENDS!!!! Best of all, Anil Kapoor plays their fun bachelor uncle who knows everything and keeps trying to fix it all.
Oh, and the whole thing was filmed in London during the Christmas season. I’m not even sure if it’s a plot point? There are just a bunch of lights and Christmas trees and stuff in the background.
It’s on Netflix, you will smile the whole time, JOIN ME!!!!
Oh, and is Friday or Saturday better for people this week?
This looks great????

Only if you like wacky misunderstandings based on double roles, 3 heroines, and 5 aunties/uncles causing havoc. Also, kitschy non-diagetic song sequences.

I’m afaid I cannot tolerate wacky misunderstandings. I end up screaming at the screen and pulling out my hair.
Same thing happens when I watch a performance of “A Comedy of Errors.”

I’m wondering what the catch is because it sounds fantastic, frankly. Why haven’t I watched this yet?

Arjun’s kind of pudgy? One of the heroines is terrible? It’s long and meandering and illogical?

Friday works best for me. Never seen the movie so this will be interesting! It used to be on Prime here, but it is on Einthusan so I will be able to watch it.

Even if you aren’t free, you can still enjoy the comments. Although prepare yourself, people may be mean about Arjun.

I don’t know if I can make it on Friday. My only complaint with Mubarakan is I expected much more fun and wackiness than it delivered. I was expecting Welcome-level of madness, but it didn’t happen!

Because of Christmas sincerity!
Anyway, if you’ve already seen it, hopefully that means you can jump in late whenever you are free.

he he, I forgot it was the 11 year olds birthday. Once Friday hits he will officially be 12! But seeing as he can’t invite friends over or have any sort of party, forcing him to leave me alone for 2-3 hours in the afternoon probably would be a bad idea… So instead of watching with you I will probably be driving 45 minutes to go to a pet store where he can buy another fish. And because I love him I’ll probably have to listen to Weird Al the 45 minute drive up, and the 45 minute drive down… I will miss you and Mubarakan.

Booo! But also, yaaaay! Fish! My Dad tried really hard to get us interested in Fish and it never fully took. We just kept killing them and eventually he gave up.

It is amazing how long it took for us to get fish that LIVED. But now we have fish that have been around four years. That said, even now for every three fish we buy, one will die. We snagged mosquito fish from a canal this summer, because we thought our gold fish tank was boring, and the internet said mosquito fish and gold fish could live together. Well they can live together, after the goldfish fill up on 95% of the mosquito fish and stop eating them. Tragicomedy. And it turns out one of the fish we caught while trying to catch mosquito fish was a local spotted dace, he leaves fun little sucker prints on the glass walls. Apparently goldfish CAN live with dace. The soon to be 12 year old loves fish. If you want to make him mad, tell him sharks are bad.

The only Indian fish movie I can think of is a lovely slow romance from Kerala. But beautiful underwater photography. but no action scenes. So I have nothing for the 12 year old, oh well. But I will tell my Dad about him, he will be so happy to hear there is another 12 year old little boy out in the world who really likes fish.
