Friday WatchAlong: Happy New Year!!! We Are Watching HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! 3pm Chicago Time

Shahrukh! And, to a lessor degree, Boman and Sonu and Dips and Jackie and Abhishek and even Vivaan!!!! It’s all happiness all the time.

Happy New Year! It’s on Netflix, it has the perfect title, and it is a super silly happy movie where we can all hate on SRK’s hair and misogyny.

I will put up an “And PLAY!” comment at 3pm Chicago time, and then we can all comment along right here.

  1. I say, this is his internal argument. He is already in love/like with Dips, and is going back and forth in his mind about if he can reconcile his feelings with her status. So, like, he is articulating his worst thoughts because he is struggling to overcome them?

Or else he is just a jerk.

  2. The costumes for this number are so delightful! And I like to think Farah just gave them very loose move instructions, and told them “do it as bad as possible in your own special way”

  3. There’s a thing about how the hardest thing for a good dancer is to pretend to be a bad dancer. But luckily, Farah cast the worst dancers in the industry for this movie, so it isn’t hard at all!

  4. See, he’s flirting with the hotel lady because he THINKS he should be more attracted to her, but he actually secretly likes Dips. It’s like when a little boy pulls the braids of the girl he likes.

  5. I love the way SRK brings the romance in the little moments in this movie! I wish there was more romance, but on the other hand the way the few minutes of romance we get really stand out is also great.

  6. When I saw the live show, they sang this as “Chicagowaale” at the end. Just wanted to tell you all that so you know how much better my life is than yours.
