90s Week of Romance: Best Jodi! Aamir-Juhi, Kajol-Ajay, Kajol-SRK, SRK-Juhi, Madhuri-Salman, Madhuri-Anil, Karisma-Salman, Saif-Akshay, Govinda….?

I put in that Govinda one just to make Popka happy. But now she has to tell us who would be the Govinda jodi person, because I don’t know.

The one that started it all! So young, so fresh, so pure!

The real life one! The action hero and the romantic heroine meeting in screwball comedies!

The classic! The magical fun teasing bond!

The lifelong friendship! The cute puppylike love onscreen!

The biggest hit! The one shot to the top!

He is just so supportive! Lets her shine as she should

Real life friends, great comic timing, just all around adorable.

I don’t know, he seemed to co-star with everyone!

And of course,

Okay, I’m gonna give five categories to pick:

Most entertaining:

Karisma-Salman! I just love watching them together.

Salman-Madhuri, for sure.

Most Chemistry

Saif-Akshay. The fight, they make up, they tease, they play, they hug, it’s all sparkling.

Most Romantic

Aamir-Juhi. So sweet! So innocent!

Most perfect pair

Shahrukh-Kajol. It’s like they would made for each other onscreen, a perfect fit.

  1. He did co-star with everyone! Difficult though, I like him best with Madhuri but their chemistry is more like an amazing fun time than a sexy time. When he does that famous grind move here they both look like they’re going to die laughing:

More or less the same with Juhi, what a couple of dorks:

Weirdly, probably the most erotic tension he had was with Sanjay Dutt or Jackie Shroff.

  2. My fav is Anil – Madhuri. They are perfect together, even better than SRK – Kajol.

The less interesting Kajol – Ajay. Maybe because I have seen 2 movies with them and both stink. One was Dil Kya Kare and it was boring but also such a strange choice ( for a newly married pair). The second is not a movie but a torture: U Me Aur Hum. I hated every minute.

    • Pyar To Hona Hi Tha!!! That is the Kajol-Ajay sweet spot. Or else Ishq, in a sort of “so bad it’s good” kind of way.

And thank you for loving Anil-Madhuri!!!!

  3. Hard for me to declare a best. But I will say it is so interesting how Kajol / Ajay have less on screen chemistry than Kajol / SRK. I think it is the eyes. Both Kajol and SRK have a unique ability to fully act with their eyes. Maybe in person the same could be true with Ajay, but film doesn’t catch it. There are often close-ups on Ajay’s eyes, as if the directors can see something there that I don’t. Both Kajol & SRK have lighter eyes than Ajay, so sometimes I wonder if it is simply because his eyes are dark, that I can’t see the emotion flicker through them. But while I accept that heros generally need to be physically attractive, do I really feel they need to have lighter eyes? I like Ajay as an actor.

    • That lighter eye thing is a really interesting question!!! What I notice with Kajol is that she has very expressive eyes, in that the way her face moves with the eyelids and eyebrows is very expressive, more than other people might use those muscles. And with Shahrukh, he clearly trained himself to use the muscles around his eyes, you don’t just naturally crinkle your eyebrows like that, you spend time in the mirror studying it!
