Friday WatchAlong!!! Actually on Friday!!!! And we are going to watch a very VERY long movie. It will be dark out and you will be ready for dinner by the time it is over. Also, you will be STARVING. Rajshri films will always make you super super hungry.
VERY IMPORTANT. We are watching the Netflix version, which is 3 hours and 13 minutes. So that is NOT the same as the einthusan version. I don’t really have a solution for this, beyond awareness. We won’t all be lining up. I’ll be doing Netflix, so if you start to lag behind, fast forward until you catch up I guess?
Otherwise, just have fun with it!!!! Silly movie, great Madhuri, tons of songs, tons of costumes, tons of FOOD.
At 3pm, I will put up a “And PLAY” comment and then we will go from there!!!!
heh, I just scratched that symbol off a local playground this morning…

A daughter-in-law’s beauty is lucky for the father-in-law?
LikeLike
Yep! A beautiful daughter-in-law brings luck to the whole household. And yes, conversely, an ugly daughter-in-law is to blame for everything bad that happens.
LikeLike
Not her beauty precisely. The word used was “saadji” i.e. simpleness. It’s Rajshri. It’s annoying.

This is why I would be a very unlucky daughter-in-law. What with my wanting to order delivery food and tendency to disagree with people and just generally not be “simple”.

I am a failure of a female by Hindi movie standards, except for unfortunate tendency to only give birth to males.

Are the doctor and his wife the token Muslim characters in every Rajshri? I like that tradition in their films but it always takes me a second to figure out who it is.

Yupp, they are.

SEX!!! Rajshri and Sooraj Bharjatya has so much sex innuendos in it and get away with it because they are who they are.

YES!!! This is the confirmation. They were a thing!

YES! I Was watching this movie with friends and they were confused if Alok was her husband since she gave him such lovey-dovey eyes!

It is very very confusing. Reema and Alok totally seem like the couple in this song!

Alok and Reema are flat out flirting in this song. They were definitely a thing in college!

I might of missed it, but is his wife dead or something?
LikeLike
No, he’s an uncle. The boy’s parents died and he raised them, giving up his own chance to marry and have a family. So there’s this added layer of everyone being excited about a bride coming to the household because it’s been all male for so long.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Alok is Monish and Salman’s uncle. He took over when their parents died and never got married because again Rajshri. If he married then he couldn’t have given them the attention they deserved because he would have a wife and his own children.

And they are DEFINITELY having a secret affair behind everyone’s back. THOSE EYES AREN’T PLATONICAL!!

So is the father of the groom flirting with the mother of the bride?
LikeLiked by 1 person
YES!!!! Except he’s actually the uncle of the groom because he is a bachelor who NEVER MARRIED. Because clearly he didn’t get over his love for Reema from college.
LikeLike
So if he is the uncle, who is the father?
LikeLike
DEAD.

Uncle of the groom is flirting with the mother of the bride. Alok is the uncle not the father who took over when the parents died.

Every Sooraj Rajshri movie I have seen has a strong homosexual undertone to at least one relationship, but I don’t think that is the case int his one? Keep watching and tell me if I am missing something.
(for example, in another movie someone says “for years my arms have been aching to embrace you” to his old college friend)

Rajshri follows a policy of “everyone will use super specific relationship nicknames, and then the audience will understand how they are related”. Which isn’t the best system for those of us unfamiliar with Hindi words!

Agreed. We can tag team in helping everyone understand the relationships!

Madhuri must have been sewn into that top, right? No way it could be that tight without it.

I am pretty sure she was sewn into every outfit in this movie. They are all skin tight and perfect!

And I would up that and say, sewn in all around. They draped the fabric, and then pulled it as tight and precise around each curve as they could.

And good for them and the 90s because women still had curves!!! Imagine this outfit on some of the actresses of today. No where near as amazing!

Culture: it’s an actual thing, the little kids of the bride’s side steal the shoes of the groom and the groom’s side has to pay a “ransom” to get them back unless they can find them. It’s cute!
