Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me the Week I Have VACATION?

Happy Monday! I just have to get through today, and then tomorrow, and then Wednesday, and then starting Wednesday night I am on VACATION. True, I’m not really going anywhere, but I am treating it like a real vacation. I’m gonna get up in the morning and go sight seeing, then come back and watch TV in bed, just like I was in a hotel.

Here is where you get to ask me anything you want from “what did you do for Valentine’s Day?” to “how is Valentine’s celebrated in India?” Just keep swinging back here all week as you think of new questions!

Now, question for you! It’s president’s day in America, who is your favorite president?

I’m a Lincoln girl all the way, always have been. FDR is good too, sure, and Washington was nice. But Lincoln! That’s where it’s at.

Follow up question, what Indian movie star would you cast to play your favorite president?

Abhishek would be the PERFECT Lincoln!!! He’s got the height, and he’s got the funny down home feel to him.

And he already filmed in Illinois once!

  1. I pretty fond of FDR in general. Teddy Roosevelt was also a fascinating individual. Not many people who get shot in the middle of a speech would insist on finishing the speech before getting medical help.

Indian actors playing presidents…well, Kamal did act as George W in Dasavatharam. It was eerie and I’m fine if no other Indian actor attempts it.

Question for you – how are you sightseeing? I just ask because with this weather, I really don’t want to be outside.

    • I have a PLAN! I am very excited. I found “best coffee shops in Chicago area” and then figured out which ones do curbside service. I also found a couple of really really far library branches that have books I want. So I will be in a car, but I will have a goal to get to, and I will take a nice leisurely way to get there (driving through interesting residential areas and so on), and I will go to places I have never happened to drive through before so it feels different. And I’m gonna get a book on tape to make it really fun. And I will just be gone and having adventures from morning through afternoon, and then come back to my apartment feeling all adventurous and happy.

  2. I saw a lot of trailers yesterday, and apart of the dance movie Natyam, I’m very excited for Theeni . Ashok Selvan (from Oh My Kadavule) plays a chef and there is also Nithiya Menen (where has she been?) and Ritu Varma. I love this cast, and can’t wait to see the movie

I also saw the trailer of Bachelor, and I feel strangely attracted . I don’t know why because it looks like Tamil World Famous Lover but maybe it’s just a very well done trailer. I keep thinking why is going on and how the story will end.

And there is also Kutty Story which is already in indian cinemas. I’m tired of short movies anthologies but this one has Vijay Sethupathy’s shower scene and I don’t need more reasons to watch it 🙂

  3. I didn’t know where to post this, but they’ve cast Anthony’s love interest for Bridgerton 2.

The actress is at least partly South-Asian and they’ve changed her name to Kate Sharma! So it’s not just color-blind casting, they’ve changed her heritage and are hopefully going to actively address it. I’m so much more interested now than I already was and also I’ve just finished the book!

    • Oh that is really interesting!!! I am going to assume that her parents will be established as both desi, but her stepmom is white, so her younger sister is seen as more conventionally attractive.

    • They could have gone with a slightly less Brahminical sounding surname than Sharma. Not sure if representation of the already privileged counts as inclusion.
